Patrick Mahomes with the Vince Lombardi Trophy

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs will appear in the Super Bowl match for the fourth time in five years after defeating the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 in the AFC Championship game.

Tight end Travis Kelce – yeah, the fella dating Taylor Swift – played a key role again linking up with quarterback Patrick Mahomes in a victory that eventually saw both defences dominate play.

If they win on Sunday, the Chiefs will become the first back-to-back champions since the New England Patriots in the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

San Fransisco 49ers

The San Fransisco 49ers narrowly made it through to the NFC Championship game surviving a scare from the Green Bay Packers eventually winning 24-21.

They had to come from behind again to defeat the Detroit Lions, who are one of only four teams never to play in the Super Bowl.

The Lions led 24-7 at half-time but the 49ers drew level before going ahead for the first time in the last 10 minutes of the game.
