Super Bowl MVP odds: Who is the favourite to win in 2024?

Patrick Mahomes took this home last year!

Super Bowl MVP award

The Super Bowl finally takes place this Sunday, with defending champions Kansas City Chiefs taking on the San Francisco 49ers.

Their star players, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, could both be in line for the coveted MVP (that stands for Most Valuable Player, FYI) award.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and Kansas City running back Isiah Pacheco are also in contention.

The Chiefs overcame the Baltimore Ravens to win the AFC Championship game, with the 49ers narrowly beating the Detroit Lions to clinch the NFC Conference Championship.

The game is a rematch of Super Bowl LIV in 2020 when the Chiefs came from behind to clinch victory 31-20. That year Mahomes picked up the award, but who will this time?

Super Bowl LVIII

Patrick Mahomes

Given he picked up the MVP award last year and back in 2020, it’s no surprise that Patrick Mahomes is the current favourite.

It’s his third Super Bowl leading the Chiefs in four years and he has already thrown 718 yards for five touchdowns in three postseason games.

If he performs to his best on Sunday then the award will likely go to him for the second year running.

Brock Purdy

Mahomes’ opposite number Brock Purdy is, undoubtedly, the surprise of the season. He was the last pick in the 2022 NFL draft and has since established himself as the starting quarterback for the 49ers.

If his team win their first Super Bowl title since 1994 then he will complete one of the greatest stories in sporting history and most likely clinch the MVP award.

Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce’s superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift has given him newfound fame, despite the tight end’s partnership with Mahomes being extremely well-known in the world of the NFL.

They are regarded as one of the best duos in the game – Kelce and Mahomes, that is – and their performances will be key in any chance of victory that the Chiefs have in Las Vegas.

He has 23 catches for 262 yards and three touchdowns in three postseason matches.

Christian McCaffrey

Like Purdy, the running back’s performances have been key to the success of the 49ers and his form has carried into the postseason.

Across two games, he has scored two touchdowns and broken 90 rushing yards both times.

Isiah Pacheco

Often overlooked because of the prominence of Mahomes and Kelce, Pacheco procured great performances in the first two playoff games.

He has 254 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 63 carries.
