The Super Bowl is finally here and it pits the best quarterback in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes against Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers. I think we’re going to see a 49ers win here, so if you agree with me, then read on for my Bet Builder based on the Niners winning Super Bowl LVIII.

San Francisco 49ers -2.5

The 49ers are 2.5 point favourites for the Super Bowl and they should cover that line. Nobody wants to bet against Patrick Mahomes but this 49ers team have been the best team in the NFL for the bulk of the season. They finished 12-5, only one win better off than the Chiefs who were 11-6 but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

The 49ers had a couple of bad results following a Brock Purdy concussion and that plays a huge part in their record. Meanwhile, the Chiefs really struggled at times. The 49ers are great on offense and while they don’t have the strongest secondary their pass rusher is still fearsome and will trouble Patrick Mahomes. I think the 49ers will finally get the Super Bowl that Kyle Shanahan deserves this Sunday and cover 2.5 points in the process.

(-2.5)

San Francisco 49ers Over 24.5 points

The 49ers offense is a juggernaut. Brock Purdy might be divisive for neutrals but his accuracy makes him the perfect fit for this offense and the talent he has at his disposal in Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle, are exceptional and that’s before we even mention Christian McCaffrey.

In the postseason we’ve seen the 49ers average 29 points per game, roughly on par with the 28.9 points they averaged the regular season, which saw them as the third-highest-scoring team in the league. They’re great frontrunners and if they get ahead they could really accelerate away from the Chiefs.

Christian McCaffrey to score 2+ Touchdowns

We won’t be seeing Christian McCaffrey as the NFL’s MVP this season because of the favouritism shown to QBs but in reality, he should have a very good case. He’s the 49ers’ main man, their best offensive weapon, and should have a huge Sunday against a Chiefs’ defense who are weak against the run.

So far this season we’ve seen McCaffrey score 25 touchdowns in 18 games. He’s rushed for 18 of those and added another seven in the passing game. When the 49ers have reached the business end of the season they’ve leaned on their star man even more and in both playoff games, he’s scored two touchdowns.

Christian McCaffrey Over 91.5 Rushing Yards

Christian McCaffrey’s rushing yard line stands at 91.5. In the two playoff games so far he’s had 90 and 98 rushing yards and faces a Chiefs’ defense who have been relatively poor against the run for a team that have reached the Super Bowl, averaging 114 rushing yards per game to the running back position.

So far this season we’ve seen McCaffrey have seven games of 100+ yards and he’s hit this mark of 91.5 rushing yards in six of his previous eight games. The team will continue to lean on him and if they get a sizable lead they’re likely to rely on the run even more to eat the clock.

George Kittle Over 3.5 Receptions

To wrap up our Bet Builder we’re taking George Kittle Over 3.5 receptions. The 49ers’ tight end is one of this team’s key weapons and will be heavily used by the team on Sunday. In the regular season, we saw tight ends average 4.8 receptions per game against the Chiefs, which bodes well for Kittle this weekend.

Kittle has averaged 3.9 receptions per game this season and has covered this line in two of his past four games. He’s targeted regularly by Purdy though and has had at least four targets in 11 of his past 12 games.
