Friday 1.15am: Jacksonville Jaguars @ New Orleans Saints
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Action

It’s almost weird seeing the Jaguars playing in the US – you know, the country they’re actually from.

But London’s favourite team according to the PR face-off in prime time this week as they tackle the New Orleans Saints for Thursday Night Football.

Of course, the planning in NFL HQ has produced this game: a team with a quarterback who has a restricted shoulder motion versus a team with a quarterback whose leg is half-working.

Nothing quite like an encouraging bout to keep you up until 4am is there?

However, if it’s any consolation, it’s become quite clear that these teams have an identity in the red zone and that makes them far more easy to read when it comes to crunch time.

So, if you think you’ll need to stir up the funds in order to pay for the energy drinks, I can feel quietly confident about landing us a winner.

Jacksonville Jaguars (+1.5)

When prices between moneyline and the spread have such miniscule difference, I’d always take any points I can in that instance.

How many games end with just a point between them? It’s a lovely insurance to fall back on.
The Saints look like a team who can’t figure it out, while the Jags are at least improving week to week and getting results to go with it.

That 34-0 blowout of New England really was a high point for New Orleans, but clearly a false dawn as they’ve fallen to both the Bucs and the Texans – two teams who are in the race for top-ten picks.

Under 39.5 Points

Both quarterbacks are banged up. The Saints have put up 75 points in their other five games outside of New England.

Both teams will genuinely benefit from a win, so will be somewhat conservative in their playcalling, and both have reliable kickers.

This is set up for two head coaches to call really risk-averse gameplans in the hope that their defenses do enough to aid their ailing signal-callers.
Lock in the under.

Travis Etienne Anytime Touchdown

The Jags don’t hide the fact that their passing game in the red zone is quite limited. They’re at their best when they can use Lawrence’s legs and turn it into a pass/run option depending on reading defensive keys.

But given his injury and Etienne’s ability to find creases in tight spaces, it feels highly likely that they’ll lean on him for two of their three downs in any goal-to-go situation.

Derek Carr Under 235.5 Passing Yards

You might think that this total is conservative but Carr is clearly playing through pain and only a couple of busted coverages against Rashid Shaheed last week so him go off on the stats sheet.

There’ll be a lot of checkdowns in this one as the Jaguars playing press man coverage, meaning Carr won’t have easy completions in between zones.
His best mismatch underneath comes in the shape of, well..

Alvin Kamara Over 29.5 Receiving Yards

Seven for thirty-six was his total last week, when he faced off against a defense he really couldn’t figure out.

It’ll be much the same now, especially with him having only four days of recovery after their defeat on Sunday.
