The NFL is back and this week’s slate finishes with a cinematic showdown in the city that never sleeps. Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills travel to MetLife stadium to face the new and improved New York Jets quarterbacked by four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.

The New York Jets hype is real. This team is star-loaded on all sides of the ball. Last season the Jets had all the capabilities of making a playoff push but were one position short. Now with the addition of Hall of Fame inductee in-waiting Aaron Rodgers, the Jets have all that they need to go for it all. They start Monday night at home to the Bills who themselves are in the Superbowl window.

Last season the Bills came undone in the Divisional round in what must be said was a disappointing ending to a season that promised so much. Now they aim to overcome the Jets in an interdivisional clash that has all the makings of a classic and will play a huge bearing in seeing what team controls the AFC East.

Jets to Win

Divisional matchups are a commonly a close affair no matter who’s under centre, and that was the case last season. These two teams shared the spoils last year winning a game each, with both matchups finishing in one score games. So expect this to be a close affair, however, the addition of Aaron Rodgers should be the deciding factor here. Add in a Jets defence that allowed the second fewest points in the entire NFL last season and you have the perfect storm. This is their coming out party, take the Jets to Win.

Garrett Wilson Over 5.5 Receptions

The Ohio State Buckeye Garrett Wilson has taken the league by storm and is looking to further showcase his abilities this time under the primetime lights. Wilson was voted the Offensive Rookie of the Year last season. An incredible achievement considering he was catching balls thrown by Zach Wilson, Mike White, and Joe Flacco.

Garrett Wilson Over 69.5 Receiving Yards

Now that he has Rodgers as his distributor, the sky is the limit. In their one brief preseason showing, Rodgers threw five completions, three of those were to Wilson which included a touchdown. Like in Green Bay, expect Aaron to go to 17 early and often. Those receptions and yards won’t be long adding up so I fancy Wilson to notch Over 5.5 Receptions and clock Over 69.5 Receiving Yards.

Josh Allen Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen Over 35.5 Rushing Yards

Josh Allen’s running game is one of the Bills’ biggest weapons. His strength and ball-carrying ability make him a constant threat to defences. Looking at the stats, Allen averaged 47.6 rush yards per game last year. In his last three appearances against the Jets, he’s rushed for 63, 86 & 47 yards. The strong Jets pass rush will force Josh to leave the pocket, so I can see him totaling up big numbers on the ground. Take the Over 35.5 Rushing Yards option.

Dalvin Cook Anytime Touchdown Scorer

The Jets acquired four time Pro-Bowler Dalvin Cook this offseason, and he adds a lot of experience and firepower to this Jets offense. He will be working in tandem with second-year player Breece Hall, but with Hall coming off an ACL injury, I’d expect Cook to get most of the carries on the ground. If the Jets get in the redzone expect the ball to be in Cook’s hands.
