San Francisco 49ers @ Dallas Cowboys

Sunday, 9:30pm, Sky Sports NFL

Selections: 49ers +3 & George Kittle anytime TD score

Two of the most famous names in the game clash again in the playoffs, and it looks like we could be in for another classic here.

It should be a close game, but with the 49ers getting a field goal start, that is the way I would lean. The ‘Niners D has been superb lately and they will make this a bruising encounter for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.  The 49ers are also running the ball very well and can put up long, clock-chewing drives.

The Cowboys arrive in the playoffs on the back of two inflated 50 points performances, but Philadelphia played their backups while Washington were wracked with injuries and Covid issues, it’s been a while since they played a D as stout as San Francisco’s.

The value in the TD markets is with 49ers’ tight end, George Kittle. I can see the Cowboys going all out to stop the run and this could create opportunities in the red zone for the imposing Kittle.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Kansas City Chiefs

Sunday night, 1:15am, Sky Sports NFL

Selections: Chiefs -12.5 & Pat Mahomes anytime TD scorer

Pittsburgh qualified for the playoffs by defeating Baltimore in a dour battle, and then had the good fortune of seeing Indianapolis choke in Jacksonville, their luck continued as the Raiders won a dramatic OT game against the Chargers to seal a wild card for the Steelers.

But their luck will run out in Kansas City.

These teams met in week 16 and the Chiefs brushed the Steelers aside in a 36-10 romp. And I can see something similar happening here and I’m happy to take the Chiefs to cover a big -12.5 handicap line.

Ben Roethlisberger completed 30-of-44 attempts for 240 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Steelers’ Week 18 win against the Ravens and the veteran, who is probably playing the final game of his illustrious career, simply doesn’t have the arm strength anymore to trouble the Chiefs secondary.

In the TD markets, I’m taking a bit of flyer here with Pat Mahomes. In the past two postseasons he ran in three touchdowns across six games. If Pittsburgh’s pass rush flushes him out of the pocket, he could add another TD to his playoff tally and looks very tempting at 9/2 to score a TD at any time.
