14:00 – Smart Decision
SMART DECISION belied inexperience to make a winning debut at Doncaster in November, providing his yard with a rare first-time-out winner.
Smart Decision was in the process of showing even better form at Haydock last time, looking set to finish runner-up until unseating his rider shortly after the final flight when around three lengths down and struggling to make any impression.
He’s made an encouraging start to his career and looks up to defying a penalty.
14:30 – Smokeringinthedark
SMOKERINGINTHEDARK was runner-up on his only start in an Irish point and he went one better on his debut under Rules in a two-and-a-half-mile maiden hurdle at Musselburgh, showing a good attitude to beat subsequent Grade 2 winner Jet To Vegas by half a length.
Smokeringinthedark failed to build on that promising start when only fourth in the Scottish Stayers’ Novices’ Hurdle at Musselburgh last time, but he was perhaps unsuited by the lack of a true gallop over a longer trip.
He takes a marked drop in distance here and gets the vote to return to winning ways.
15:00 – Master Breffini
MASTER BREFINI has won the last two and followed up his victory at Sedgefield with an even better performance from out of the weights at Catterick last time.
Master Breffni had the run of the race at Catterick but he’s going the right way and should give another good account of himself off this 6 lb higher mark.
Monochromix is still a maiden but was a creditable second at Ayr last time and looks likely to be in the mix again.

15:30 – Tyson Magoo
TYSON MAGOO offered something to work with in novice company, notably when finishing third at Catterick on his penultimate start, and he appeals as a potential improver on his handicap debut.
Tyson Magoo starts from what appears a fair opening mark and he gets the vote.
Blue Fin was disappointing at Haydock last time but had been proving competitive prior to that and it would be little surprise were he to bounce back having been freshened up.
16:00 – Red Happy
RED HAPPY enjoyed a productive campaign last season and completed a hat-trick when successful at this venue.
He was disappointing on his first two starts this term, but having fallen below his last winning mark, he returned to form when successful at Musselburgh last month.
He was helped there by the runner-up rather snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, but Red Happy at least showed he’s back in form, so he can go well after edging up only 2 lb.
16:35 – Lady Babs
LADY BABS registered her first four wins at Market Rasen but proved she’s as effective at this track when scoring over course and distance last month.
Lady Babs ran out a decisive seven-and-a-half-length winner, looking as good as ever despite being an 11-year-old, and a 5 lb rise in the weights should not prevent her launching a bold bid to complete the hat-trick.
17:10 – Minella Trump
MINELLA TRUMP was a prolific winner and very useful chaser at his best and he shaped as if retaining some ability when fourth on his first start in a hunter chase at Bangor last month.
That was Minella Trump’s first start in nearly a year, so he should be fitter with that outing under his belt and can make
