13:50 Sandown – The Kemble Brewery

ITV Racing Saturday comes from Sandown, Hereford and Wolverhampton, starting here with a novices’ handicap hurdle over 2m4f. It’s the final of this event and a decent renewal. THE KEMBLE BREWERY was the horse I put up as one to follow this jumps season and I have no doubt he’s a better horse than a mark of 129 suggests.

A step up in trip should suit the Kim Bailey & Mat Nicholls runner and he looked really promising in wins at Worcester and Ffos Las. Last time my hope was turned over at 4-11 at Ludlow, but he had a double penalty and the winner has since scored off 126. I’m not sure Ludlow would be his track either. Huge chance under Tom Bellamy even with 12st and he can reverse form with Meetmebythesea, the Ludlow victor.

14:05 Hereford – Williethebuilder

Hereford coverage includes this handicap chase over 2m. A drop in class might help WILLIETHEBUILDER who goes here for Dan Skelton with Tristan Durrell taking off 3lb. My boy wasn’t disgraced in a Class 1 at Newbury last time over hurdles and is 2lb lower here in a chase. He actually finished one place behind Arkle fancy Jango Baie in a point to point and he could totally outclass this field.

14:25 Sandown – Wreckless Eric (each-way)

Here’s the competitive Imperial Cup Handicap Hurdle over 2m. WRECKLESS ERIC might have an each-way chance for the O’Neill team and Kielan Woods. My hope is down 1lb after a sixth at Windsor in soft ground. He ran perfectly well that day but his previous two fine efforts came on a surface like this – better going – at Cheltenham and Wincanton. With conditions in his favour he’s got a right each-way squeak and a big field and strong gallop will suit. Some might think he’s in the grip of the handicapper now but I’m not so sure.

14:45 Wolverhampton – Local Hero (each-way)

The Lincoln Trial Handicap over an extended 1m. LOCAL HERO got going too late at Kempton last time but goes well here and should have every chance of at least reaching the frame for Richard Hannon and Joe Leavy, who takes off 3lb. A good winner at Kempton in December, my selection in 4lb higher now but that success was under Sean Levey so now with a rider taking off 3lb he’s only up 1lb. Big chance each-way.

15:00 Sandown – Dream Shadow

A Listed bumper over 2m. DREAM SHADOW won well at Uttoxeter before finishing third at Market Rasen when a warm favourite. She still ran well and just lacked a little bit of a turn of foot on the day. Has place claims here at the very least for Jonny Burke and Fergal O’Brien.

15:20 Wolverhampton – Witch Hunter

A Listed contest in the Wulfruna Stakes over 7f. WITCH HUNTER loves this distance and is pretty classy on a going day so I’ll chance him at long odds for Richard Hannon and Jamie Spencer. My selection didn’t do much when last seen at Lingfield in February, but he kept on that day and will be fitter now. He’s unbeaten at this track in two starts!

15:35 Sandown – Dreaming Blue

A handicap chase over 3m. DREAMING BLUE is probably not the best handicapped in the field but he’s consistent and stays and should run a race for Anthony Honeyball and Rex Dingle. My selection is up 2lb for a second at this track last time but this better ground is right up his street – it was heavy then – and he should be in the mix.

So best of luck, and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me, Paddy?
