13:55 Sleeping Satellite

Two of the others were last-time-out winners but this might be fought out by SLEEPING SATELLITE and Wise Guy. The latter bumped into a revitalised front-runner when beaten at short odds a fortnight ago and still has plenty of scope to progress from last month’s Lingfield win but Sleeping Satellite was second off today’s mark in a pretty competitive 14-runner Doncaster handicap on his latest outing, and his proven ability over C&D earns him the vote.

14:30 Grey Skies (NAP)

The top two on the racecard would probably prefer better ground, while Grade 1 hurdle winner Cornerstone Lad is nothing like the force of old and cannot be relied upon. GREY SKIES (NAP) was safely held over 2m7f last month but today’s drop back in trip looks a good move and, judged on his previous two runs, he appears to have been found a very good opportunity.

15:05 Mr Bramley

There might be more improvement in MR BRAMLEY who was impressive on his first go over jumps at Bangor and may well follow up. Panhandle Slim has a 6lb pull with the selection from Bangor but was readily held at the line. Looking As You Are will need to continue on an upward curve if she’s to add to her two mares’ wins against the geldings.

15:40 Ned Tanner

Confidence in NED TANNER would be slightly higher on a left-handed track but he has performed well in stronger races than this over the last few months and might make his class tell here. High Moon ran well in defeat at Ayr three weeks ago and can pose a threat if the cheekpieces continue to have a positive effect, while there could still be more to come from Go Boy, who won over 2m here on his stable debut in December.

16:15 Artic Mann

This looks pretty open. Clovis Island is the dark horse but others have more compelling form credentials and ARTIC MANN has continued to run well in similar races. Enemy At The Gate (second choice) and Shantou Moon are also respected.

16:50 Baron Briggs

Largy Train arrives in very good form but it might pay to give another chance to BARON BRIGGS, who has sometimes lacked fluency since he was switched to chasing but could be very dangerous off his current mark if he gets into a good rhythm over the relatively easy fences here. Great Ballinboris needs to build upon his Wetherby run in December but remains unexposed.

17:25 Final Edgar

A few to consider. FINAL EDGAR may have more upside than some of these with him still lightly raced and seemingly improving. Master Breffni held every chance when falling in his final chase and he might be glad to see the back of fences. Masked Crusader and Follow Charlie are others with plenty going for them.
