14:05 Whynotnowroy

Activist won with something up his sleeve at Plumpton on Monday but the quick return under a penalty over a longer trip raises some questions and there are alternatives. Imperial Measure is reliable at this level and looks sure to go well again but a first-time hood seemed to help WHYNOTNOWROY when he made late progress over C&D three weeks ago and he looks capable of better. Come On Nia is also worth a look now handicapping and a market move for Irish point winner Come On Paddy Mac should be heeded.

14:40 Amalfi Bay

Ex-French Flat winner Johannes is worth a good look off a modest mark in his first handicap but AMALFI BAY has done enough in his hurdle runs to think he can find an ordinary handicap, even though it remains to be seen whether he can recapture his quite useful Flat form. Fellow handicap newcomer Dance Havana is another of interest.

    15:15 Living On Luco

    There are only two serious form contenders and they are the penalised pair LIVIN ON LUCO and Jackpot D’Athou. There would be no contest if they were assessed on their latest runs but the latter gave a likeable display on his penultimate start and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he came back from a disappointment since with a much better effort today. Livin On Luco has a query about the first-time headgear but otherwise he has very solid claims. The rest are well adrift in terms of form but perhaps Mistral Milly may be best of them.

    15:50 Star Flyer (NAP)

    Last year’s winner Imperial Joe can step up on his earlier form this winter now he goes for a repeat but Art Decco and STAR FLYER (NAP) both gave good shows in first-time cheekpieces last time out and the latter is particularly respected after an emphatic Southwell win. Kingofthewest is ready for another go at a staying trip and is not left out either.

    16:25 Rivers Corner

    Nothing doing in bumpers and early hurdle races, including in first two handicaps, but RIVERS CORNER handled the step up to 3m on heavy ground far better than his toiling rivals when well clear at Wincanton 12 days ago; up 10lb but he’s unexposed.

      17:00 Walk In Clover

      Lilith is likely to be dangerous after her return to form at Carlisle as she is still on a winning mark and is versatile regarding tracks but WALK IN CLOVER has strong handicap form this winter and is much more realistically placed than in Listed company last time out. Whatsdastory and Juniper have something to find on recent efforts but the former may well improve for the return to this track.

      17:35 Sorceleur

      This looks all about SORCELEUR who has finished within close proximity of a smart prospect in bumpers at Exeter and Cheltenham, latterly in a Listed race. Harry Cobden prefers him to stablemate Berliath who still rates as one of the selection’s most likely threats.
