13:50 Westerninthepark

WESTERNINTHEPARK had some fairly useful form in bumpers last season and he made an encouraging start over hurdles when finishing third at Exeter in October. He looks the part for jumping but he left the impression he needed the run on his first start for six months, still having every chance at two out but weakening soon after.

That experience won’t be lost on him and he remains with potential. Nicky Henderson’s Madam Ryder should have learned a lot from her debut Lingfield tenth and can emerge as the main danger.

14:20 Duhallow Tommy

DUHALLOW TOMMY was a winner in bumpers and displayed ability over hurdles also, but he produced a big career-best effort when making a winning start over fences over this course and distance last week, beating the reopposing Clondaw Robin by 13 lengths.

He attracted good support that day, jumping well and proving well ahead of his mark, so he makes plenty of appeal turned out quickly under a 7lb penalty. Filanderer also showed plenty to work on when a fine second to the now 139-rated Libberty Hunter in a stronger race than this on his chasing debut at Wincanton six weeks ago and looks the obvious danger.

    14:50 Junkanoo

This doesn’t look a strong race and it looks a perfect opportunity for JUNKANOO to open his account over hurdles. He has shown plenty to work on in three starts so far, finishing runner-up on each occasion, only just denied despite receiving a bump by the winner close home at Kempton last time, and he sets a pretty good standard in this field. Colours On Canvas could be the one to follow Gary Moore’s charge home unless the market vibes are positive surrounding the returning Mako of The Glade.

    15:20 Doughmore Bay

While cases can be made for the majority of these, DOUGHMORE BAY is almost certainly the one with the greatest potential.
He shaped better than the bare result on his handicap debut at Cheltenham when last seen in November, doing well to beat as many as he did following a bad mistake and, granted better luck here, he will be the one they all have to beat. Ilovethenightlife left the impression that this stiffer test would be in her favour when putting in good late work over two and a half miles on her latest start and she is feared most.

        15:50 Morfee

The vote goes to MORFEE, who was just touched off at this course earlier this month, and a 3lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from getting his head back in front now returned to this trip. No Hubs No Hoobs arrives here on the back of a couple of solid efforts and he looks the main threat, with Born At Midnight resuming from 11 months off and the other three all needing to bounce back.

        16:20 Ferrybridge

FERRYBRIDGE did win quite a weak race at Newcastle but might have more to come now he’s up and running for James Owen. Kotari should be able to do something from this sort of mark judged on Flat ability and a market move for him would look significant. Man of Light returns from a lay-off with his stable in good form and is another who could be a big player if the betting suggests he’s ready to roll.
