12:15 – Torneo
Torneo showed ability on the Flat for Jean-Claude Rouget, winning a Pau maiden before finishing runner-up in three conditions races, and he fetched €110,000 when sold at Arqana in July. Torneo shaped as if in need of the experience when runner-up on his hurdling debut for Jamie Snowden at Catterick last month, lacking fluency in the jumping department at times, but he is entitled to improve for that outing and holds leading claims here.
12:50 – Home Free
Home Free showed plenty of ability in bumpers, finishing placed at Wetherby and Chepstow, and he is a nice prospect for novice hurdling. Home Free still looked a bit rough around the edges when third at Chepstow last time, finishing behind Beat The Bat who has since shown useful form over hurdles, and he is in excellent hands with the Skeltons.
13:25 – Brave Kingdom
Brave Kingdom fared well over hurdles towards the back-end of 2021, winning two of his three starts, and he defied a long layoff to strike on his chasing debut in a novice handicap at Plumpton last month. Brave Kingdom had been off the track for nearly two years but he proved better than ever at Plumpton, jumping well and travelling with enthusiasm on his way to a two-and-a-half length success. There should be even more to come from him and he looks up to defying a 5 lb rise in the weights.
14:00 – Galia Des Liteaux
Galia des Liteaux showed smart form over fences last season, winning a listed novice at Bangor and a Grade 2 at Warwick, and she didn’t have to run up to her best to make the most of a good opportunity in listed company at Market Rasen last month. That task was made even easier when one of her two main rivals unseated at the twelfth, but Galia des Liteaux is entitled to be sharper with that outing under her belt and sets the standard based on the form she showed in that Grade 2 at Warwick last season. She stands out as the one to beat.

14:35 – Gidleigh Park
Gidleigh Park is well bred – he’s by Walk In The Park and out of a mare who is out of a half-sister to Denman – and has made a highly promising start to his career, winning a Chepstow bumper and an Exeter novice hurdle with something to spare, marking himself out as an exciting prospect. He has shown plenty of pace but should find this two-and-a-half-mile trip within his range and is taken to extend his unbeaten record.
15:10 – Hecouldbetheone
Hecouldbetheone missed all of last season but he wasn’t disgraced on his reappearance over hurdles at Plumpton and he shaped with plenty of promise in a strong-looking novice handicap on his chasing debut over this course and distance a few weeks ago. Hecouldbetheone was ultimately beaten around 12 lengths in fifth but he looked set to finish closer for much of the way, jumping boldly at the head of affairs until headed after the second-last and still only around two lengths down when stumbling at the last. This looks like an easier task and he can build on his recent promise.
15:45 – Dance The Moon
Dance The Moon catches the eye on paper and is worth siding with on debut for a trainer in Alan King who is well able to get one ready at the first attempt. Dance The Moon is a half-sister to numerous winners, including a smart hurdler in Thomas Campbell, while her dam, Hora, was a smart staying hurdler.
