13:30 – Curtiz

Curtiz shaped with encouragement on his return from nearly a year off when beaten less than two lengths in fifth over this course and distance last month. He was competing off a career-low mark on that occasion and has since dropped another 2 lb in the weights so ought to make his presence felt if stepping up on his reappearance effort.

14:00 – English Rose

English Rose is bred to be smart – she’s by Frankel and out of Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary winner Sobetsu – and she made a promising start to her career when scoring in good style at Newmarket in May. English Rose was slowly into stride but she made smooth headway from halfway, quickened up to lead a furlong out and kept on well to score by a length and three-quarters, getting the better of her odds-on stablemate. English Rose has been off since but she remains with potential and looks up to defying a penalty.

14:30 – Royal Power

Royal Power was only fifth on his debut in a seven-furlong novice here last month but he was very green and seemed to be getting the hang of things late on, so he should do much better with that outing under his belt. Royal Power, who is by Frankel and out of Nell Gwyn winner Soliloquy, should also relish this step up to a mile so, with plenty of improvement expected, he looks the one to side with.

15:00 – Midair

There are some interesting newcomers from big yards in here but Midair sets a high standard based on his runner-up effort at Goodwood. Midair was held back by inexperience when fifth of six on his debut at Newmarket in August but he took a big step forward to finish runner-up at Goodwood, shaping with encouragement behind one with more experience. Midair is bred to be smart and still didn’t look like the finished article at Goodwood so he should still have more to offer.

15:30 – Measured Time

Measured Time has made an excellent start to his career, winning all three starts with plenty in hand, and he can take this step up in class to listed level in his stride. After winning a maiden and a novice over a mile at this venue, Measured Time again displayed a fine turn of foot to slam his rivals in a mile-and-a-quarter handicap at Newmarket in August. This further step up in trip asks a new question but he looks like a very smart performer in the making.

16:00 – Graignes

Graignes finished in mid-division in the Cambridgeshire last time but he shaped better than the distance beaten would suggest after leading the unfavoured far side group and remaining competitive until inside the final furlong. Graignes has hit the frame on his six other starts this season, winning on two occasions, including by four and a quarter lengths over this course and distance in June. He’s a reliable sort and should give a good account with William Buick back in the saddle for the first time since that easy win in June.

16:30 – Tacarib Bay

Tacarib Bay was disappointing when down the field in the Golden Mile at Goodwood in August but he possibly found that effort coming too soon after he was a good sixth in the International Stakes at Ascot only six days earlier. Tacarib Bay has been given plenty of time to get over his Goodwood effort and looks interesting based on the pick of his form, while it’s also worth noting he’s run well on both starts on the all-weather.

17:05 – Miss Dolly Rocker

Miss Dolly Rocker was placed on all four starts last season, while she’s yet to finish outside the first two in four outings this term. She produced her best effort yet when runner-up at Bath last time, pulling six lengths clear of the third, and she looks well treated off the same mark here. Her trainer Roger Teal has been among the winners of late.

17:40 – Epic Express

Epic Express was behind a couple of unexposed three-year-olds when third over course and distance on his penultimate start and he again found only a lightly raced three-year-old too strong when runner-up over this track and trip last time. He has been knocking on the door and, with the benefit of a handy draw and his rider taking off 7 lb, he ought to give a good account.
