The Irish are heading Down Under in a bid to land one of the world’s richest races – the Grade 1 Melbourne Cup at Flemington.

It’s a pretty big deal in Australia as locals brand it ‘the race that stops the nation’ and the likes of Absurde, Tower Of London and Vauban are set to make the long trip from Ireland for the two-mile handicap.

Australian-trained Gold Trip came out on top in last year’s renewal, which boasted an $8,000,000 prize pot, and the six-year-old is in contention to defend his crown, despite flopping at the top level in his most recent outings.

You can run the rule over our antepost Melbourne Cup odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details about this year’s renewal can be found below.

Melbourne Cup 2023 date and start time

The Melbourne Cup is set to take place at Flemington on Tuesday, November 7. The post time is set for 04:00. You can watch the race live on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app.

Melbourne Cup 2023 runners and riders
