16:25 – Rukaana
Cuban Harry can benefit from today’s drop in class while Aljadel faces a more straightforward task than the one she was assigned at Newmarket last time. RUKAANA looks a likely improver now tackling low-grade handicaps though and his latest run at Kempton wasn’t as disappointing as the distance beaten might suggest.
17:00 – Cherry Hill
Handicap debutantes Hand Jive (second choice) and Checkmeout appeal as the types to take a step forward here and command plenty of respect, but CHERRY HILL arrives on the up and can make light of a 5lb rise for her cosy Kempton success. Haya Taal completes the shortlist.
17:30 – The Caltonian (NAP)
There is no shortage of recent form on show and Major Gatsby, Fayasel, Keep Me Stable, Liberty Breeze, Guiteau and Crystal Dawn would all have something to recommend them in a normal handicap of this type. Whether they can deal with the flourishing THE CALTONIAN (nap) is a moot point though and Linda Perratt’s rapid improver can make it 3-3 on AW since blinkers went on.
18:00 – Tiptoe
A weak maiden in which Middlesex, who finished in front of a couple of today’s rivals at Kempton two weeks ago, holds the most compelling form claims. She wouldn’t be sure to confirm those placings with TIPTOE now that rival has had a run though and David Simcock’s filly is marginally preferred. Tayala and Charlotte’s Luck look best of the rest.

18:30 – Masqool
He’s A Gentleman boasts recent C&D winning form and should go well again with Oisin Murphy retaining the ride. Nikki’s Girl is another to consider, while a better run from Operatic Artist and Firm Handshake wouldn’t be a huge surprise. MASQOOL should get a good pace to aim at here though and he can leave a low-key run on heavy ground well behind him.
19:00 – Kaidu
This looks a bit tricky but the vote goes to KAIDU, who sets the standard on his front-running second at Doncaster on his penultimate run and looks interesting dropped to 5f on his first run for Archie Watson. Second choice is Sir Mark Prescott’s Moon Flight, who ran into a useful prospect when runner-up at Newcastle last week and could make another bold bid on his drop to this trip. Another key player is Bright, who could find more progress back at 5f on his stable debut.
19:30 – Ithra
First Of May could well have more to come on AW but her finishing effort at Newcastle last time was a bit disappointing. Mersea also has to bounce back from a quiet run but she’s a major player on this drop back to Class 5 company. Pulcheria looked to retain ability on her stable debut and could go well but Belle Fourche and ITHRA may be the pair to focus on. The selection shaped with real promise on her stable debut two weeks ago and has the potential for more after just five starts.
20:00 – Delvey
Hill Station got back on track with a clear second in a similar race here 19 days ago and he’s respected for an in-form yard. Young Winston and Gautrey have possibilities for Tony Carroll, while Ed Dunlop’s well-bred filly Debby’s Delight looks interesting off a lowly mark on her handicap debut. However, the vote goes to DELVEY, who had a near-miss off a reduced mark over C&D last time and is a big player if repeating that performance.
20:30 – City Escape
Preference is for CITY ESCAPE, who has won twice at Ffos Las since August and was a strong-finishing close third over C&D in her hat-trick bid 17 days ago. She’s on an unchanged mark on this drop back in grade and may well be able to record her fourth course win. Prince Ali has had a win and two close calls here in his last four runs and he’s feared most ahead of Caramay. Another to keep an eye on is the unexposed handicap newcomer Huda Star.
