Horse Racing Tips: Ruby Walsh’s Champion punts at Ascot on Saturday

Ruby is all over British Champions Day at Ascot and he's really sweet on Kinross in the 13:50.

13:15 – Kyprios

It looks like Willie Mullins wanted a day out as he sends Stratum over but it’s hard to fancy him. It’s hard to see Coltrane bouncing back so it boils down to Kyprios or Trueshan. The latter will love the ground and he’s had a wind operation and I thought Kyprios ran a blinder in the Irish St. Leger behind Eldar Eldarov in September. He was great last season and he can get back to winning ways.

13:50 – Kinross (NAP)

Without Shaquille, it opens the door for Kinross and Frankie Dettori on a slow surface. He wants further but he ran well at Longchamp last time out. He’s the one to beat and he has too much in hand on his rivals.

14:25 – Bluestocking

I’m with Bluestocking for Rossa Ryan and Ralph Beckett. I went back to that Irish Oaks run behind Savethelastdance in July and now I can’t get away from her. She ran well at York and Chester in her last two runs and she has cheekpieces on for the first time. She can go well.

15:05 – Tahiyra

Paddington is back after a little break although I can still see Nashwa finishing ahead of him. I’m with Tahiyra and I have been all year. She was too green in the 1000 Guineas when beaten by Mawj back in May but she’s bounced back and improved since. If Dermot Weld thinks the ground is too soft then so be it but I fancy her.

15:45 – Bay Bridge

I like last year’s winner Bay Bridge for Sir Michael Stoute with Richard Kingscote on board. He handles soft ground and I’ve been left disappointed by King Of Steel. I have ground concerns over Horizon Dore and Bay Bridge seems to fit the bill.

16:25 – Dual Identity

I’m hoping something will come from off the pace and make their move late on so I’ve landed on Dual Identity for William Knight. Jim Crowley will hopefully sit him in and strike late on. He’s a decent each-way price too.
