14:15 Kamanika

KAMANIKA resumed winning ways with a comfortable success at Sandown last month, hitting the front entering the final furlong and just needing to be kept up to her work from there to land the spoils by three quarters of a length. That performance underlined that she goes very well in the mud and she’s proven at the track as well having won over course and distance back in June. A likeable filly, she is bidding for a fourth victory of 2023 altogether and there is no reason why she shouldn’t go well again from just a 2 lb higher mark than last time.

14:50 Primo Lara

PRIMO LARA failed to land a gamble when fourth on his debut at Yarmouth a few weeks ago, though he showed bags of promise under a considerate ride, doing his best work late on to pass the post just a length behind the winner. That form is the best on offer in this line-up and there should be more to come from him with the run under his belt. A couple of interesting newcomers feature among the opposition in this maiden, but Primo Lara rates a very solid selection to get off the mark at the second attempt.

15:25 Heritage House

HERITAGE HOUSE has looked an improved performer on her last couple of starts, first making a successful nursery debut over this course and distance in August and then producing an even better effort in defeat when runner-up at Doncaster last month. She was beaten just half a length on Town Moor, looking home and hosed when quickening clear two furlongs out before running out of steam near the finish. The way she shaped there suggests the shorter trip today will be in her favour and she is worth a chance to improve past Adaay In Devon to regain the winning thread.

16:00 Chris’s Mate

CHRIS’S MATE showed much-improved form when finding one too good on his nursery debut at Yarmouth a few weeks ago, proving well suited by the step up in trip as he kept on gradually to pass the post just half a length behind the winner. That was his first run for three months, so he’s entitled to strip fitter as he lines up today from just a 2 lb higher mark. In a race where most of the others have questions to answer, Chris’s Mate brings easily the most solid credentials to the table and it looks an excellent opportunity for him to open his account.

16:35 Spirit Genie

SPIRIT GENIE was capable of fairly useful form on his day when trained by Jessica Harrington, notably winning a Roscommon maiden and finishing second in a valuable nursery as a two-year-old. Admittedly, he offered little encouragement when down the field on his first start for Jennie Candlish at Newcastle 11 days ago, but the run should have served a purpose after five months off and a gelding operation. He is likely to be closer to form today and that identifies him as potentially the one to beat now dropping into a seller with cheekpieces fitted for the first time.

17:10 Lowton

LOWTON shaped encouragingly when fourth in a big-field handicap at York last time, passing the post only two and a quarter lengths behind the winner and looking unlucky not to finish closer still having been met trouble at a crucial stage of the race. Regardless, that was a career-best effort in first-time blinkers and there was certainly plenty to like about the way he came home once finally seeing some daylight. Still unexposed after just five starts and yet proven in the mud, he remains one to be interested in from an unchanged mark.

17:45 King Of Fury

KING OF FURY stepped up on his debut form when third at Kempton back in August, ultimately proving no match for the exciting winner (beaten four and a half lengths) but sticking to his task well to push the runner-up all the way for that position. That form sets the standard in this line-up and he still looked green at Kempton, so there’s a good chance that he hasn’t reached his ceiling yet. Today’s conditions shouldn’t be an issue, either, for a horse who was third on his debut in a soft-ground novice event over this course and distance.
