2020 2,000 Guineas fourth Military March is a fascinating runner back from the best part of three years off and going beyond 1m1f for the first time on his AW debut. It will be interesting to see how he goes in the market but the vote goes to OMNISCIENT, who hasn’t had much luck since a solid comeback, when among the favourites for the Northumberland Plate here off a 4lb higher mark. Valsad, who was undone by tacky ground last time, and Haunted Dream, who’s currently 4-6 on the AW, are two more with claims.

It could pay to take a chance on the newcomer STORM AND CONQUEST, with whom his top connections have persevered. Rogue Warrior has been off for 104 days but appeals as the main danger on form. It was a modest race that Ciara Pearl won but she may improve some more.
18:00 Supreme Tenacity
An ultra-weak nursery in which three trainers are double-handed and Craig Lidster saddles three can go to SUPREME TENACITY, who’s improved for cheekpieces going on and is one of only two to have been placed previously (from 56 runs between them). The other to have made the places, Goldmine Girl, rates the main danger back down in trip, while Northern Cracksman, who’s had wind surgery and been gelded, is worth tracking in the market.
18:30 Royal Prospect
A switch in yards brought about an improved effort from three-time course winner ROYAL PROSPECT off tonight’s career-low mark over C&D last time and he’s taken to turn things round with Pop Favorite in a race that could well be run to suit. No explanation was offered after Mr Heinz popped up over C&D 11 days ago and history would suggest he’s no certainty to repeat the effort.

19:00 Port Erin (nap)
Plenty to consider in a handicap containing a fair spread of pace, but it’s still hard to take on PORT ERIN (nap), who’s done nothing but improve in recent times, latterly when turning in a career-best effort under more patient tactics last Wednesday. Star Zinc and Irish Flame, who both ran well without having things pan out their way over C&D 18 days ago, are two more to consider.
19:30 Elettaria
She’ll need a solid gallop to chase but ELETTARIA seems more likely to give her running than most of these, having won two of her last three. Clotherholme (second pick) and Tathmeen should be involved after decent runs at this track 11 days ago. Van Zant was sent off favourite for that race and an early bump didn’t help matters.
20:00 Firecombe Hall
Eyes, Deputise and Beneficiary all have something to recommend them in a weak race but FIRCOMBE HALL may be the answer. He had a long absence prior to last month’s return and he should be at concert pitch with two runs behind him. Hollie Doyle is a significant booking for the yard and he can gain a fourth C&D success.
20:30 Blackcurrent
Don’t rule out better from either Wrenegade Lad or Roys Pursuit but the two at the top of the shortlist are Sydney Bay and BLACKCURRENT. The former starts out for a new yard off a lowly mark and has run well here in the past but Blackcurrent is tough, reliable and comes here in form. He can register a seventh Newcastle success.
