York 13:15 – Purosangue
I’m with Purosangue who has finished runner-up in his last three starts but looks to be in the right race for trainer Andrew Balding.
Newmarket 13:25 – Chief Little Rock
I’m going to give a chance to Ballydoyle’s Chief Little Rock to make amends for his defeat at The Curragh behind Deepone. I don’t think Deepone ran his race when beaten in the Juvenile Champion Stakes at Leopardstown but then bounced back a fortnight later at The Curragh to win when beating Chief Little Rock in the Autumn Stakes over a mile. I’ll chance Chief Little Rock to get his revenge though.
Newmarket 14:00 – City of Troy
I think City of Troy will win the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes. He’s odds on and was very impressive when winning over course and distance last time on Good to Soft ground.
York 14:25 – Mr Wagyu (each-way)
I’m going to go for an each-way selection in Mr Wagyu who is off a pretty favourable mark. Now his York form can be a little bit in and out and it is a bit of a specialist’s track. But I like his draw – low in stall five and I thought he ran really well at The Curragh two starts back and that’s Mr Wagyu. He’s down to a mark of 92. I know he’s an eight-year-old, but he has won at York in the past as well as posting a couple of ordinary runs in there as well.
Newmarket 14:40 – Jackfinbar (each-way)
It’s easy to see why Pied Piper is favorite for the Cesarewitch. He had a comeback run on the flat in Killarney where he ran reasonably well. He was well fancied at Ascot last year in the Ascot Stakes when sixth behind Coltrane. That form is probably plenty strong and you can see why he’s among the market leaders with Ryan Moore booked. Vino Victrix ran well in the race last year, finishind second to Run For Oscar off a mark of 92 and is 2 lbs lower now. The Shunter could run well but is a 10-year-old now which is the only thing that puts me off him,.
Jackfinbar has as an each-way poke at a big price. He ran way too keen under Frankie Dettori at Leopardstown in the Indigo Stakes and went back to the Irish Cesarewitch a fortnight later, He didn’t really get the run of that race and was well beaten but I still think he’s over-priced.

Newmarket 15:15 – Meribella
It’s not all that inspiring this race. Arabian Crown is plenty short in the market especially with the form of Charlie Appleby’s two-year-olds, there is a question mark over them.. Gasper De Lemos will probably love the step up in trip but he looked pretty slow at Leopardstown on his debut behind Chief Little Rock. He improved to win a maiden but I’m not sure how strong that race was. Dambuster won at Sandown and I wouldn’t put anyone off Meribella.
York 15:35 – Believe in Stars
I’m looking at Sir Michael Stoute’s runner Believe in Stars who has an okay draw in stall four. Killybegs Warrior could run a big race as well but I just thought Believe In Stars who showed a bit of inexperience at Goodwood despite winning and but did beat Deferred at Lingfield in September. He won’t mind any rain that arrive either.
Newmarket 15:50 – Spirit Dancer
I’m not sure that the forecast rain is going to suit but I thought Spirit Dancer could go close. He’s on a four-timer and has two of those three races at York. He did well to win last time out in a Group 3 having won two handicaps before hand and I’m willing to go with him again.
