13:37 Big Brown Bear

BIG BROWN BEAR produced a career-best effort in first-time cheekpieces when finishing third at Kempton last month, running on well from rear to be beaten just a head and a neck. That was a big step in the right direction and he lines up today from just a 1lb higher mark. Still a maiden after seven starts, he must be one for the shortlist as he tries to gain a deserved success back on turf.

14:12 Arizona Desert

ARIZONA DESERT left her previous form behind when finishing third on her nursery debut at Newcastle three weeks ago, running to a fair level with the promise of more to come for her new yard.

The first three finished in a heap and they pulled over five lengths clear of the remainder. That was a promising start to life with Dominic Ffrench Davis and she should remain competitive following a 3lb rise in the weights, with the booking of Hollie Doyle catching the eye, too.

 

14:47 Dance Desire

DANCE DESIRE has plenty to recommend her on pedigree (by Sea The Stars and out of a useful performer) and the fact she cost 240,000 guineas as a yearling suggests she looks the part as well.

Trained by John and Thady Gosden, she couldn’t be in better hands and is very much one to follow in a fillies’ novice event where those with previous experience haven’t shown a great deal.

15:22 Hoof It Hoof It

HOOF IT HOOF IT returned to form with a convincing success at Ripon 10 days ago, making all to land the spoils by two lengths with plenty in hand. She showed a quirk or two along the way (hung badly right late on), but the manner of that win suggests she was full value for a 6lb rise in the weights and she could be the type to kick on now that she’s rediscovered the winning habit.

15:57 Speedacus

SPEEDACUS has hit a rich vein of form on his last two starts, first winning over this course and distance and then running at least as well under a penalty when suffering a narrow defeat at Hamilton. He was beaten just a short head by a less-exposed three-year-old on the last occasion, with the first two pulling three lengths clear of the rest.

Clearly very effective under these conditions, Speedacus is effectively 1lb lower in the weights today and should prove a tough nut to crack once again.

 

16:32 Forceful Speed

FORCEFUL SPEED was well on top at the finish when completing a hat-trick at Epsom nine days ago, hitting the front over two furlongs out and gradually asserting from there to win by a length.

He’s been sparingly raced as a three-year-old, but his season has been one of notable progression on the few occasions he has made it to the track. It doesn’t look like he’s reached his ceiling yet, either, so he’s very hard to oppose in his four-timer bid from an unchanged mark.

17:07 Royal Bliss

ROYAL BLISS matched the pick of her juvenile form to finally get off the mark at Yarmouth 19 days ago, taking advantage of a big slide in the weights since the start of the year.

The return to softer ground seemed to be right up her street, impressing with the way she went through the race and just needing to be driven out in the final furlong to land the spoils by a length. Consistency hasn’t been her strong suit, but she is worth a chance to build on that run and follow up from just 3lb higher.

17:40 Micks Dream

MICKS DREAM was a cheap buy for the Deborah Faulkner team at just 1,000 guineas, but he made a good start to life with his new stable when filling the runner-up spot at Brighton 22 days ago.

He was beaten just a neck at the line and was arguably not to win having been denied a run at a crucial stage of the race. He’s gone up just 2lb for that run and this looks a good opportunity for him to gain compensation with a first win since July 2022.
