14:55 Fontwell – Up The Straight (Daily Record)

Unanswered Prayers started last season well and remains open to further improvement as a chaser, but UP THE STRAIGHT should have a big say on ground he likes. He would probably have won this 12 months ago had he not idled in the closing stages and that was on the back of a similar absence. Sacre Coeur is preferred of the others.

15:10 Hexham – Blended Stealth (Racing Post)

The Longest Day has won his last two races and could plausibly have further improvement to come but he has something to prove on slow ground and preference is for BLENDED STEALTH. Lizzie Quinlan’s 6yo didn’t fire at Cartmel last time but he kept on well for third over 2m4f on his stable debut and looks well worth another crack at this sort of trip.

17:05 Ascot – Lethal Nymph (The Sun)

Clive Cox has two strong candidates in a competitive sprint. Redemption Time bumped into the progressive Dark Trooper over C&D last month and should be competitive again but preference is for last year’s clearcut winner, his stablemate LETHAL NYMPH, who signalled a return to form when runner-up at the St Leger meeting. Ascot regular Rohaan is a major danger, while at the other end of the weights Yaaser ought to make his presence felt too. 3yos Tough Enough and English Oak, the latter taking a significant drop in distance, are others to consider.

17:15 Fontwell – Belgarum (Telegraph)

Sami Bear was doing well when last sighted and should go well along with last year’s winner Beat The Heat who tuned up for this with a win on the Flat. Another who might feature is BELGARUM, who has had wind surgery since making a solid start to his life handicaps back in the spring.
