Frankelian has been beaten twice by OUR GOLDEN ONE and may be again today but the issue is not clearcut, because the distance between them wasn’t much on either occasion (particularly last time) and the ground promises to be very different today. Eleftheria has also shown plenty of ability, while the newcomers are interesting on paper and may be headed by Beeley.

14:42 Salamanca

Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam and owner Peter Harris are represented in the previous race by newcomer Rolica who needs a close look, but the same seems even more applicable for their SALAMANCA given his entry in the Group 1 Futurity at Doncaster at the end of this month.

Poniros represents Ralph Beckett while William Haggas has Victoria Legend and those debutants are feared most, given that Risk On does not set a high standard with his Yarmouth form.

 

15:12 Concierge

Plenty have possibilities but top of the list is the resurgent 7yo CONCIERGE, who completed a double when surging clear on soft ground at Brighton two weeks ago. The other last-time-out winners Evasive Power and Primrose Maid are feared most, although Selby’s Pride turned things around with a good second at Hamilton last time and looks interesting if she can back that up.

Apache Star could bounce back again on this drop back in grade, while others to consider are Hey Mr and Ray Vonn.

15:42 Spoof

Fantasy Master has to be high on the list given his course record and also last week’s fine second over 6f when he had most of his rivals in trouble some way out. He couldn’t repel the late challenge of the progressive winner but dropping to 5f will suit and he’s greatly respected.

Hiya Maite, Elegant Erin (second choice) and Sir Titus also have something to recommend them but SPOOF ran well at Haydock on Saturday and he can take full advantage of this ease in class.

16:12 Rhubarb

Smooch (second choice) ran well at Pontefract last week (finished in front of Yazaman) and she can go well off a 3lb lower mark. Gustav Graves can bounce back from a poor Leicester effort but perhaps RHUBARB can come out on top. Her form figures mask the fact that she’s had some excuses of late and conditions shouldn’t be an issue.

16:42 Greek Giant

Most have possibilities but it may be decided by the four at the bottom of the weights. GREEK GIANT and Buxlow Boy may be the ones to benefit most from this slog, but Club Manager and Spiced Rum could also have their say.

17:12 Navarre Express (NAP)

This is more demanding company but NAVARRE EXPRESS (NAP) looks well equipped for a slog in the mud judged on the way in which she dispatched her four rivals on soft ground over 1m4f at Ffos Las.

She also brings potential given she is so lightly raced. Miss Dolly Rocker and I Still Have Faith are other 3yos with plenty clearly to recommend and they are preferred in that order because of the ground, while the 4yo Dubai Souq probably won’t be far away.
