13:50 Tarawa

TARAWA ran a blinder from off the pace when fourth to Tahiyra in the Irish 1000 Guineas. While she’s not quite matched that since, I don’t think she’s really fancied wearing a visor on her last two starts when  getting behind last time in the Solonaway Stakes and finishing with running left when fifth of 10 to Flight Plan.

That doesn’t give her much to find form wise and dropping in class here, my belief is that the switch to cheekpieces will help her travel better into the race, while the likely strong pace will set the race up for her.

14:25 Novakai

NOVAKAI has been keeping better company than this for most of the season, and last year’s Fillies’ Mile runner-up will benefit from a return to the Rowley Mile and a drop in class after finishing in the ruck behind Warm Heart in the Yorkshire Oaks last time.

Winner of the Aphrodite Stakes over this trip on the July Course two starts back, she clearly relishes Newmarket, and can get her head back in front, now dropped in class.

15:00 Carlas Way

CARLAS WAY impressed when making all in a fast time on debut at Doncaster over 6½f. She needed wind surgery after failing to match that form in the Albany, and was back to form when runner-up to Darnation in the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood, where the heavy ground suited the winner better.

Darnation franked that form when running away with the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster, and while Carlas Way might be better over shorter trips, given she’s a free-goer in running, Newmarket will suit her style perfectly. She should find this 7f on quick ground right up her street.

15:35 Mutasaabeq

A really trappy race, but the potential angle in is that only MUTASAABEQ will want to go forward early, and Jim Crowley can win if controlling the fractions. He found 7f too sharp in the City Of York last time, and his previous two starts were in Group 1 company in the Lockinge and Queen Anne Stakes, when unable to dominate better rivals.

Mutasaabeq won this race last year, making all, and repeated that feat in the Bet365 Mile which was switched to the Rowley Mile after Sandown was lost to the weather. He’s clearly suited by bossing Group 2/3 rivals at this track, and should be hard to catch once again.
