13:50 – Silver Lady

Charlie Appleby’s Silver Lady is 5lb off the top rated, but she has only had the two starts and is open to any amount of improvement. She was a very impressive winner on her debut at this venue over this trip in April when a well-backed even money fav.

She’s had a break since finishing a short head and a neck third to Sounds of Heaven and Queen For You at York and wears a hood now. The Appleby yard was quiet during the summer by their own high standards but is operating at a 40 per cent strike rate for the last two weeks.

14:25 – Voodoo Queen

Voodoo Queen has definitely shown a preference for fast ground and won her maiden here as well as a handicap last year on the July course. She’s not been seen since winning a Listed event at Pontefract in June but has won off a 168-day break and 77-day break previously.

That looks solid form with One Evening finishing second and she has been a head second to Sea Theme at Listed level at York and was second in the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster since.

15:00 – Ylang Ylang

Proved a costly and disappointing 6/5fav in the Moyglare Stud Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend. She had easily beaten Vespertolio in the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes earlier in the season and that one was second in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, so it clearly wasn’t Ylang Ylang’s true running.

I’m willing to forgive her that run and if she bounces back to her form of her first two starts, she is the one to beat. Shuwari did beat beat Fallen Angel last time out and that one won the Moyglare Stud Stakes subsequently.

15:35 – Mutasaabeq

Mutasaabeq is looking for a repeat win from last year having made all from the front – even if it looked a weak renewal. He has to carry a 3lb penalty for his Group 2 win here in May but can blast off in front and leave the others trailing in his wake.

Chindit is in great form after winning his last two starts at Group 3 and Listed level while Malijoom has not seen since his unlucky fourth in last year’s St James’ Palace Stakes.
