13:15 Ayr – Revich

Hollie Doyle has been booked to ride REVICH and Richard Spencer has done well with this seven-year-old who won at Chester at the May meeting and he went on to win at Royal Ascot which was on slow ground so ground should hold. It was a good run last time and this track has been a happy hunting ground before.

13:30 Newbury – Sense of Duty

William Haggas has had to be really patient with this daughter of Showcasing. She has not run for over a year, but when winning at Newcastle, SENSE OF DUTY beat some horses who have gone on and franked that form. She is only a four-year-old who is still improving.

13:50 Ayr – My Prospero

William Haggas has popped the cheekpieces on MY PROSPERO. He was a short priced favourite in a Group 2 race at York last time when beaten and they obviously felt he did not give them everything in the run. Royal Rhyme has a little to find according to the handicapper and I am  more worried about Helvic Dream coming over from Ireland for shrewd operator Noel Meade.

14:05 Newbury – Valsad

VALSAD ran really well at the track on his second run when runner-up after looking like he hit the front too soon. Lessons were learned from that and he gets a confident vote now after being really well backed when winning at Doncaster in the Racing League last time.

Ayr 14:25 – Aplomb (each-way)

Jane Chapple Hyam is a good operator. APLOMB is not the easiest to predict but this seven year old does not mind juice in the ground and he has won off higher marks in the past than what he races off in this contest.

He finished sixth when 8lbs higher in this contest last year and he ticks a lot of the right boxes again.

14:40 Newbury – Balance Play

Ralph Beckett trains BALANCE PLAY and the ground just looked a little quick when he disappointed at York last time. That was a very competitive handicap and he never really got into the race. I would rather judge him on his win on slow ground at Goodwood.

15:00 Ayr – Raqiya

Trainer Owen Burrows has had a good season and looks to have found another smart one for his team with RAQIYA. She won nicely at Salisbury and followed up convincingly at Haydock last time and is on the up.

15:15 Newbury – Haatem

He handled slow ground at Goodwood and beat the smart Iberian in the process. He is streetwise and has run in some good races so I will take a punt on HAATEM.

Mr Sketch looked really good at Salisbury and runs for some heavy-hitting owners and it would be a real feather in the cap for the trainer Eve Johnson Houghton if she were to win. I’m sticking with the streetwise Haatem.

15:35 Ayr – Lethal Levi (each-way)

It all seems to make sense to back the Mick Appley-trained Juan Les Pins. He ran a very good second at York in a Listed contest last time and placed in this race last year. The only concern is that he is 14lbs higher in the ratings now, than when running so well last season and that puts me of. I prefer the chances of LETHAL LEVI each-way. Karl Burke has reached for the headgear and I can’t help but feel that Lethal Levi has run some good races this season without winning. It’s hard in these big handicaps and he is definitely a player.
