12.50 – Regal Reality

ITV go Epsom crazy Saturday starting here with the Group 3 Diomed Stakes over an extended 1m. A pretty poor line-up for this prize. REGAL REALITY has the chance to live former glories here for Ryan Moore and Sir Michael Stoute. On his best form my hope would lap this lot, and that includes when third behind Enable and Magical in the 2019 Eclipse. In this small field he’ll be quite happy to sit handy and he might just be too good even though at the age of eight there is no doubt he’s past his best. Looked to need the run in the Gordon Richards.

13.30 – Military Order & Dubai Mile

The big race of the day in the Derby for three-year-olds over 1m4f. A fantastic betting heat with a favourite who could easily win in Auguste Rodin but a horse that’s hard to tip having been tailed off in the 2000 Guineas. I’m backing two against the field in MILITARY ORDER and DUBAI MILE.

The former has progressed with every race for Charlie Appleby and William Buick and I liked the way he pulled away on the all-weather last time. This trip on grass will be right up his street and he’s always been considered a Derby hope. Dubai Mile would have liked it to rain, so there is a big doubt for him on the ground. That said, he beat Arrest in Group 1 company as a juvenile and then was a fine fifth in the 2000 Guineas. He’s classy and his owner Ahmad al Sheikh dreams about winning this race like I do sunny beaches. I’ll have a few quid on them both.

14.10 – Prosperous Voyage

Another Group 3 here in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes for fillies and mares over an extended 1m. Big chance for PROSPEROUS VOYAGE here for Frankel Dettori and Ralph Beckett. The former 1000 Guineas runner-up went on to land a Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket and has always been a classy act. She didn’t show much on her comeback run in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket but should come on a bundle for that effort.

    14.45 – Betweenthesticks (each-way)

The Dash Handicap for 3yo over 5f. BETWEENTHESTICKS went up 4lb for a defeat last time which seems harsh but is worth a few quid each-way here at a big price for the in-form Jack Channon and George Bass. I like the fact this horse has decent form at speed favouring tracks like York and Salisbury and hopefully he can get in the frame at the very least in this field.

    15.20 – Mokaatil (each-way)

The Dash Handicap for older horses over 5f. Wide open. MOKAATIL is nicely handicapped off 85 for Ian Williams and has an each-way chance under Sean Bowen. What a win it would be for him taking off 7lb. My selection was a fine fourth in this event last year off a mark of 87 and has won at the course before. Basically he’s got every chance on his best form.

    15.55 – Lose Your Wad

A handicap over 1m2f. LOSE YOUR WAD had no chance against San Antonio at Chester last time but is much more interesting here off a mark of 93. The Charlie Hills trained runner is drawn out wide, but if he can overcome that he should have a great chance for Kieren Shoemark. His winning form at Kempton has worked out well and there should be more to come on this faster surface than when beaten last time.

      16.30 – Sheer Rocks

Now a handicap over 1m4f. I’ll take a chance SHEER ROCKS can follow up a recent Ascot success for Eve Johnson Houghton under the crack apprentice Harry Davies who takes off 3lb. My hope reared at the start and came from off the pace last time, but usually he goes close to the speed and from stall one there is very much the chance to make all here.

      17.05 – Mr Wagyu

Finally a handicap over 6f. A nightmare! MR WAGYU is 2lb higher than when taking this prize last year and he might well pull off the double. Jason Hart rides for John Quinn and after three runs this term his handicap rating has come down 5lb. He should be spot on for this and I suspect it will have been targeted.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
