Horse Racing tips: An 8/1 play leads the way at Catterick today

13:50 – Golden Gal

The winner had gone by the time Tommytwohoots (next best) got going here last time but he could be a big player if that can be mitigated against this time. Sir Benedict looks the pick of the Stella Barclay-trained pair and is much respected back on turf under top weight. However, GOLDEN GAL, who returns after wind surgery, goes well fresh and at this track and can make her return to this mark another winning one.

14:20 – Whalley Road

The ten-month absence and forecast slow ground are causes for concern but speedy Changeofmind is otherwise a nice 5f prospect who has to be feared. WHALLEY ROAD, who should build on his Pontefract debut promise, looks an interesting alternative, while Newmarket raiders High Ovation and Tawalla are also respected. Erosion Risk is harder to support after 16 defeats.

14:50 – Sera Dawn

Jack Channon’s SERA DAWN looks the way to go given she went smoothly when opening her account in a Nottingham novice last time and starts life in handicaps on what should be a viable mark. Hat-trick seeking Doctor Mozart is also weighted to have a say and he is next on the list ahead of in-form pair Fortunate Star and Premier Option.

15:25 – Well Go Again

Plenty are in with a shout. Breguet Boy (second choice) has made a good start with Keith Dalgleish, while in-form pair Forgetmenotblue and Pallas Lord need factoring in along with Poster Child, who should build on her reappearance Thirsk seventh. However, Sam England’s WE’LL GO AGAIN posted a good second over fences at Market Rasen last time and should be highly competitive on this return to the Flat, so he gets the vote.

16:00 – Newyorkstateofmind

Last year’s winner Motawaazy (second choice) teed himself up well for a repeat when a fading sixth over 7f here last time, so must enter calculations, while in-form pair Gracelands Girl and Special Mayson command plenty of respect too. But Ruth Carr has her string in excellent nick and new recruit NEWYORKSTATEOFMIND is taken to build on the promise of his Wolverhampton fourth and emerge on top.

16:30 – Langholm

There are not many obvious contenders for this. Milbanke will surely have more to give and he can go close if handling soft ground. However, the vote goes to LANGHOLM (nap), who loves this track and ran very well in defeat last time, when it took a career best by the winner to beat him. Chookie Dunedin can chase them home.

17:00 – Mr Jetman

A weak contest in which the suggestion is MR JETMAN on his handicap debut. This trip could prompt improvement and he probably wouldn’t need much of that. Capofan has claims on her best form and she is feared, with cheekpieces offering the potential for revival. Smile And Pay is an each-way player again, while Centerstage is not written off.
