Horse Racing tips: A 9/1 pick tops the list at Kempton today

The Racing Post boffins like the look of How Hard Can It Be in the 19:00.

Kempton Betting Tips:

17:00 – Just A Spark
17:30 – Tomahawk King
18:00 – Garrick Painter
18:30 – Lightship (NAP)
19:00 – How Hard Can It Be
19:30 – Imperium
20:00 – Rumbalicious

17:00 – Just A Spark

This looks a good opportunity for JUST A SPARK, who has finished runner-up in the last two of her three runs this winter and travelled smoothly for a long way when a close second at Southwell last time. She sets a clear standard on this drop in trip and should be hard to beat. The danger is Ma Famille, who was an encouraging third on Tapeta on her recent return and is open to more progress.

17:30 – Tomahawk King

Preference is for TOMAHAWK KING, who made it third time lucky when landing a Wolverhampton novice in October and is an interesting contender off what looks a fair opening mark on his return. The other handicap newcomer Renesmee is feared most, ahead of Little Edi, who has possibilities if he can find something extra with cheekpieces added on his reappearance. Mister X is one of the most exposed runners in the line-up but he’s a three-time winner who shouldn’t be far away on this drop back in grade.

18:00 – Garrick Painter

Saturnalia is respected under a penalty for his strong-finishing win at Wolverhampton, while Goldkit also enters the reckoning after a very narrow defeat here on her debut last month. However, the vote goes to GARRICK PAINTER, who has shown plenty of promise with his two placed efforts including a second behind a useful odds-on rival over C&D in December.

18:30 – Lightship (NAP)

The class-dropping Farhh To Shy has to prove her stamina but this may not be a thorough test and she could get away with 1m. Crystal Casque (second choice) has conditions to suit and is greatly respected, while Smiling Sunflower remains unexposed at 1m and has the ability to deal with this mark if not spoiling her chance in the stalls. LIGHTSHIP (NAP) proved a steadily run race over C&D held no terrors a fortnight ago though and this unexposed filly may take the step up in class in her stride.

19:00 – How Hard Can It Be

The Kevin Philippart De Foy-trained pair D Day Odette and Rikona each hold solid claims, with marginal preference for the former who is weighted to confirm last month’s Lingfield running with her stablemate. However, it may be worth giving another chance to previous C&D winner HOW HARD CAN IT BE who looked to be on the way back on her penultimate start and had possible excuses last time when behind Rikona.

19:30 – Imperium

Both Solent Gateway and Aced It ran well to finish third and fourth respectively in a Fast-Track Qualifier over C&D a fortnight ago and have to be respected back in a handicap, especially the latter given his good record here. The unexposed Aztec Empire is another to consider up in trip with the return to this venue a positive, but the vote goes to IMPERIUM who has gained five of his six victories here (four over this trip) and has dropped 2lb below his last winning mark.

20:00 – Rumbalicious

Following his win here last time Meisterzinger has to be high on the list, while the 21-race maiden Pledge Of Peace is worth considering down to this level for the first time. Miss Sligo is a reliable sort in this grade, but the choice is MR RUMBALICIOUS, whose latest third behind a subsequent hurdle winner at Lingfield reads well in the context of this race.
