Dundalk 15:50 – Shabaaby (each-way)
I’m not expecting him to get up to his former rating of 109, but Shabaaby has dropped so far down the ladder to 64 now, that he can finally break his duck on a synthetic surface for this team. He returns to the minimum 5f trip and had been handed a decent stall position in box six. Granted the strong pace he needs to run at, he will be hitting the line strongly off this very lowly rating.

Southwell 17:15 – Colours of Freedom
Archie Watson’s Colours of Freedom showed a massive chunk of improvement on handicap debut last time and it wasn’t fully expected as she went off at 33/1! She is dropping back down in distance to 5f, but is sharpening all the time with experience. Delving into her pedigree I would suggest she will continue to improve as the dam was a five-time sprint winner.

Southwell 18:45 – Tylos
Looks just the type of contest that the stable excel with having been picked up at the horses in training sale for 25,000 Guineas. Originally he was a breeze up for £215,000. He managed to win on his third try at Wolverhampton in a very quick time over the long sprint distance of 7 furlongs. Tylos looks to have been found an ideal opportunity on his first try for the new team.
Dundalk 19:00 – Selective Power
He showed a good level of ability for the first time when winning over the course and distance. That was only his second try on a synthetic surface and given his pedigree, Selective Power is bound to keep on improving, This lightly-raced, four-year-old can continue to climb some way up the ladder from just a modest perch of 57.
Southwell 19:15 – Six Strings
He’s been around for ages and also chopped and changed through many different stables. As of yet he hasn’t managed to win under the care of this handler, Derek Shaw but he finds himself lurking on a very attractive mark of just 53. We also have the excellent Cam Hardy retaining the ride and provided he doesn’t give away too much ground in the early stages, Six Strings can pick up the pieces later on.

Southwell 20:15 – Praise of Shadows
Although by no means a regular winner, Praise of Shadows hasn’t done too badly on the consistency front. He comes here on the back of an impressive course and distant victory and looks another winner for jockey Kevin Stott who is gunning for his first All Weather championship. Bernard Spearpoint looks his main danger, but he is a suspect stayer over this 6f distance and should be reeled in by Praise of Shadows as they race to the line.
