12:50 – Tagabawa

There are some very interesting newcomers on show, with Wigmore Street top of the list ahead of Albany, Free Lovin’, It’s Marvellous and Waipiro. TAGABAWA sets a useful standard for them to aim at, however, and Charlie Appleby’s colt is taken to defy a penalty and follow up his comfortable Wolverhampton success.

13:20 – Dragonball Prince

The market should be informative as regards the two newcomers, with Green Machine looking the more interesting. However, despite being the most exposed in the field the vote goes to DRAGONBALL PRINCE who went close when third in a Wolverhampton nursery last month. The way he performed there and his pedigree both suggest he should relish this greater test of stamina. Trojan Spirit is also bred to appreciate the step up in trip and can provide the biggest danger.

13:50 – Kingsley Pride

A few of these are likely to appreciate the longer trip on breeding, though a couple have also not looked straightforward. KINGSLEY PRIDE falls into that category as he would surely have won had he not hung so badly at Chelmsford last time. He has the ability to win this if proving more amenable and the new headgear may help him in that regard. Similar comments apply to Cavern Club who still appears to have more to offer, but a bigger danger may be Mighty River who has improved as he has gone up in trip and did it nicely when successful at Wolverhampton this month

14:20 – Zealot

Quite a competitive race for the grade with six last-time-out winners, two of those bidding for a hat-trick. Approach The City may still have more to offer for his new yard after winning so well at Southwell last time, while the in-form filly Measured Moments is also respected if proving as effective back on Polytrack. However, the vote goes to ZEALOT who bolted up over C&D in September and is off the same mark as when beaten a nose on his debut for Mick Appleby at Southwell on Friday. Rooful and Recuerdame are others to consider.

14:50 – Brains

Exciting News and Covert Mission (second choice) are solid contenders but the return of blinkers, worn for all eight of his wins (three of them over C&D), could be the catalyst for a full revival from the well-handicapped BRAINS.

15:20 – Ummsuquaim (NAP)

Uther Pendragon bids to rattle off his third win in seven days and he holds solid claims. Miss Elsa ran well after a break at Lingfield three weeks ago and can go well but UMMSUQUAIM (NAP) appeared to relish the step up to middle distances at Lingfield last time and she still looks very well handicapped despite a 3lb rise.[Paul Smith]

15:55 – Tawtheef

Hot Day (second choice) comes here in good form and has solid claims provided his stamina holds out. Damascus Finish and Tinchoo are exposed maidens but both can go well, while Simply Sin is another to consider on his return from a break. TAWTHEEF has performed with credit in two of his three runs since wind surgery though and he gets the tentative vote.
