12:40 – Invictus Machin

INVICTUS MACHIN looked a useful prospect when making a successful hurdling debut at Down Royal last month, quickly asserting on the run-in to win by five lengths with a bit in hand. That probably wasn’t the deepest contest, but there was plenty to like about the style of his performance and there should be more improvement forthcoming. This has the makings of an informative heat and Invictus Machin is fancied to make it two from two before going on to bigger and better things.

13:10 – Bodhisattva

BODHISATTVA resumed his progress after seven months off with a good third at Navan a few weeks ago, closing all the way to the line despite hanging left. He was beaten only two lengths and his strength at the finish suggests the longer trip here is likely to unlock further progress (still unexposed as a stayer). He’s already shown enough to suggest he’s on a competitive mark and this looks a good opportunity for him to get his head back in front with the cheekpieces he wore last time retained.

13:40 – Harmonya Maker

HARMONYA MAKER could hardly have been more impressive when making a winning hurdling debut at Fairyhouse last month, travelling well at the head of affairs and gradually drawing clear from two out to win by 18 lengths. That form sets the standard in this listed contest and it’s highly unlikely that she’s finished improving just yet. Trained by Gordon Elliott – who won this race last year with the useful Party Central – Harmonya Maker is very much one to follow and should be able to cope with the step up in grade in her follow-up bid.

14:10 – Galopin Des Champs

GALOPIN DES CHAMPS looks the class act here as he tries to provide trainer Willie Mullins with an eighth win in this Grade 1 since 2013. He won three of his four starts as a novice chaser last season and would still be unbeaten over fences but for his Cheltenham mishap where he stumbled and fell after the last when well clear. He gained swift compensation when last seen winning another Grade 1 at Fairyhouse in April, again showing top-class form as he powered clear late on to win by 18 lengths. He returns this season with his potential firmly intact and should continue to take plenty of beating as his top yard plots a path to the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.

14:40 – Appreciate It

APPRECIATE IT was the leading novice hurdler in Britain and Ireland back in 2020/21, notably winning the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival by 24 lengths. Admittedly, he hasn’t been the easiest to train since then and made just one start last term when finishing only seventh in the Champion Hurdle back at Cheltenham, but the vibes have been positive about him ahead of his return to action this season. He is every inch a chaser on looks and seems destined to take high rank in the novice division if retaining all his ability.

15:10 – Glenloe

GLENLOE shaped better than the bare result when pulled up in the Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan last time, a fiercely competitive heat in which he was still travelling well when a bad mistake at the tenth halted his momentum. He was unable to recover from there, but it could be worth giving him another chance now back in calmer waters. Indeed, he’s on a career-low mark and down markedly in grade, so he’ll get few better chances to end a losing run stretching back to December 2016.

15:40 – Blizzard Of Oz

BLIZZARD OF OZ showed plenty of ability when filling the runner-up spot on his debut in a listed bumper at Limerick in March, staying on strongly to pass the post only three lengths behind the winner. He has joined champion trainer Willie Mullins in the interim and it will be no surprise if he takes his form up another notch for his new connections this season. He already has the best form in this race anyway, so it looks an ideal opportunity for him to open his account.
