13:40 – Ayr Empress
On the back of her very solid second over C&D last month, AYR EMPRESS (nap) can go one better off only 1lb higher. Cosa Sara, another in-form 4yo filly, is next on the shortlist ahead of Bankawi and Royal Countess.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
14:10 – New Definition
Newmarket trainer James Tate has a 50% strike-rate (5-10) at Musselburgh in the last five seasons and his sole runner on today’s card is NEW DEFINITION, who holds a leading chance on the figures back down in grade. Looking For Lynda (second choice) returns to a less demanding level after running in the Molecomb, while Wen Moon is open to further progress.
14:40 – Dark Jedi
These are not easy to split, as the close finish between DARK JEDI, Glasses Up, Happy and Ravenscraig Castle when they filled the first four places at Ayr in June illustrates well. The winner may again come from that group, with Dark Jedi and Happy perhaps the best options.

15:10 – Birkenhead
Having gamely beat 19 rivals in a higher grade at York two weeks ago, BIRKENHEAD could well follow up. Global Humor, who collected a Class 6 silver medal here last Friday, is second choice. Eeh Bah Gum and Dapper Man are the weakest contenders based on last-time-out efforts but they hold every chance if back on song.

15:40 – Ramon Di Loria
Bearing in mind that he’s a recent C&D winner and marginally ahead of the assessor, RAMON DI LORIA gets the percentage call. Second choice is Abduction, who beat a couple of these rivals at Catterick last month. Consistent Brazen Bolt and last year’s winner Gometra Ginty are also respected.
16:10 – Hypersonical
A chance is taken on HYPERSONICAL, who has not troubled the judge since joining David Brown but is interesting with blinkers reapplied having shown his best form in this headgear. Doomsday is feared most, ahead of Monhammer.
16:40 – Smart Lass
Provided she returns from her layoff in top form, SMART LASS may well be the answer considering she has such an impressive strike-rate in Flat races at this course. Second choice is the consistent maiden Arrange, ahead of Well Planted. Caballero is going into unknown territory over this distance but he has the ability to take a serious hand provided he stays.
