The Curragh plays host to the Phoenix Stakes, the biggest juvenile race of the season to date, this weekend.

As well as a bumper €300,000 prize fund – with the winner collecting a cool €177,000 for connections – the race also has the prestige of being the maiden Group 1 for the two-year-old crop.

Bradsell heads the market after an impressive success in the Coventry Stakes last time out. Hollie Doyle is booked to ride once again for Archie Watson.

Little Big Bear, the other Royal Ascot winner in the field, is also prominent after completing his hat-trick with victory in the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes at the Curragh last month.

Persian Force was second – 1½l behind Bradsell – in the Coventry before reappearing three weeks later to score in the July Stakes at Newmarket.

Blackbeard was fourth in the Coventry but further franked that form by winning the Prix Robert Papin and is a course-and-distance winner after landing a Group 3 in May.
