13:30 Chester – Fools Rush In

I’m going with Fools Rush In for Ben Curtis and Hugo Palmer. He’s got a good draw in stall four and he has Chester form. He beat Sir Benedict in July last year and he won again here in August, beating Titan Rock. He also had a win at Haydock ahead of Il Bandito. Fools Rush In handles the track and he was rated 93 last August when he won at Chester. He’s up 2lbs to 95 so he’ll do me.

13:50 Market Rasen – Royal Pretender

I like Royal Pretender, who is making his fences debut off a mark of 124. He just failed by a nose to beat One True King at Market Rasen in March and the extra furlong will suit him. It’s a race full of exposed horses and Royal Pretender is relatively unexposed.

14:05 Chester – Just Fine

I’m not crazy strong on anything in this race but the main form line I could find was that Just Fine ran into Majestic Dawn last time out at Salisbury in September. Majestic Dawn is solid so maybe Just Fine’s run was better than we first thought. He likes to come off the pace so he’s my tentative tip.

14:40 Chester – Al Aasy is now a non-runner

I’m not overly concerned about Al Aasy’s form from the back end of last season. He did the same in 2020. He’s fresh and he should be revitalised so he could be the one. Megallan is obviously a threat but I’m with Al Aasy for Jim Crowley and William Haggas.

15:15 Chester – Cleveland

Falcon Eight won this last year from stall 10  and I’m not too concerned about his hurdling career. He’s still capable of running to a decent level on the Flat. He’s 5lbs higher than he was when winning last year though. Arcadian Sunrise is also of interest but this is likely a stepping stone to Ascot for him. The one I’ve landed on is Cleveland, who reappeared at Naas in March, finishing behind Layfayette, who has franked the form since. Cleveland hadn’t ran since November 2020 so it was an impressive return. It’s interesting that Aidan O’Brien has decided to step him up in trip too for the feature race of the meeting, the Chester Cup.

15:45 Chester – Kings Lynn

The three-year-old’s allowance swings this in Flaming Rib’s favour. That said, all of Flaming Rib’s best form is over 6f. I’m going to side with Kings Lynn for David Probert and Andrew Balding. I feel he’s ran to a higher standard than Flaming Rib.

Ruby Walsh’s best bets:

13:30 Chester – Fools Rush In
13:50 Market Rasen – Royal Pretender
14:05 Chester – Just Fine
14:40 Chester – Al Aasy
15:15 Chester – Cleveland
15:45 Chester – Kings Lynn
