14:16 – Son And Sannie

Despite her best form coming on softer surfaces Firenze Rosa is still respected having run so well on fast ground on her reappearance here a week ago. The Defiant shouldn’t have an issue with this return to turf and there is a good chance he may be left alone in front, but it may be worth siding with SON AND SANNIE who looks well handicapped on a couple of near-misses last summer and has the services of the in-form Harry Davies.

14:51 – Mary Of Modena

Despite the different surface and drop in trip, Gidwa is still respected in his hat-trick bid while Antiphon would be a serious player if stepping forward from his encouraging stable debut at Nottiingham last month. The vote, however, goes to MARY OF MODENA who is 4lb higher than when narrowly making it eighth-time lucky here last time, but the way she went it about it that day suggested she would appreciate this longer trip.

15:26 – Tanmawwy

Both Treacherous and Silent Flame look interesting on their return to turf, while Majeski Man is respected in his bid to make it 3-4 since joining John O’Shea. However, another chance is given to the unxposed TANMAWWY who looked a smart prospect when winning his only start as a 2yo. His recent run at Leicester on his first start since then should have taken the freshness out of him.

16:01 – Excel Power

There could well be more to come from EXCEL POWER, who is two from two since upped to 1m and taken to complete the hat-trick. He has an obvious chance back down in grade. Fox Power (second choice) seems the biggest threat on recent form but My Tyrrell could stage a revival back at this course and Free Solo needs a close look on his debut for a new stable.

16:36 – Maplewood

A market check is advised regarding the pair making their debuts, especially Hamaamm whose stable won a division of this race with a newcomer last year. Shared is a major contender on the strength of his Nottingham debut even if a stiffer test is likely to suit him in due course, but preference is for MAPLEWOOD. He seemed to find 1m2f stretching him here last time having made a promising debut over this trip at Kempton last autumn.

17:10 – Eton Blue (nap)

A 5lb pull should enable New Heights to get closer to ETON BLUE (nap) than when the pair met over C&D four weeks ago, but the winner didn’t race as a 2yo and may still be improving so George Baker’s gelding is taken to back up that success. Leroy Leroy could go well from just 1lb above his last winning mark, while Culture is 2-2 around here so a case can be made.

17:45 – The Writer

Preference is for THE WRITER who doesn’t seem entirely straightforward but has a major chance on this year’s AW efforts and, having gone down by only half a length most recently, is firmly heading towards a first success. Mutara (second choice) and Another Odyssey were behind the selection last time but they may show improvement and prove bigger threats today. Rita Rana has frame possibilities on this year’s AW form.
