13:00 – Carn A Chlamain
This looks a competitive novice hurdle for the time of the year and it is CARN A CHLAMAIN who is taken to follow up his Southwell success. He was only a fair maiden on the Flat but did it nicely on his hurdles debut, making good progress after three out and he was in control when wandering approaching the final flight. He is entitled to improve for that experience and should be up to defying a penalty. The returning Mandocello is also of interest and he should be monitored in the betting.

13:35 – Calva DAuge
CALVA D’AUGE had a good record over hurdles and has some useful form in the book, so he looks very interesting now sent chasing in a race lacking depth. Fifty Ball sets a good standard, but isn’t the most straightforward, and Calva D’Auge may prove a tough nut to crack if getting into a good rhythm for a yard that are still flying.
14:10 – Outlaw Peter
OUTLAW PETER looked a good prospect when making a winning return in a bumper at Worcester in October and he remains capable of better over hurdles. He returned lame when making a promising start in this sphere and he hasn’t seen his races out as well as expected since. It is no surprise he has undergone a wind operation since and this looks a perfect opportunity for him to open his account. Foxinthebox is another who remains with his best days ahead of him and looks the obvious danger.
14:45 – Danny Kirwan
This looks an ideal scenario for DANNY KIRWAN to be able to follow up his Ascot success, with the small field to suit his prominent tactics going on a right-handed track again. He jumped superbly last time and can have too much for the rest of the field. The consistent Neville’s Cross could be the one who gives him most to think about.

15:20 – Fugitives Drift
FUGITIVES DRIFT didn’t progress as expected over fences, but he won a handicap hurdle from a 12 lb higher mark in 2020, and returned to form back in this sphere when runner-up over course and distance 19 days ago. That was his first start since undergoing a breathing operation and he was unlucky to bump into another well handicapped rival who also returned to form. This looks a weaker race and a similar performance should suffice. He can prove too strong for Birds of Prey, who produced his best effort for a while last time.
15:55 – Slate House
SLATE HOUSE was a smart performer at his best, winning the Grade 1 Kauto Star here in 2019, and he gained his first victory since then when scoring in a course and distance handicap last month. He was suited by the drop back in trip that day and remains well treated on old form, so he is expected to follow up now back up and running. Malystic can reverse the Ayr form with Return Ticket and is feared most, ahead of Diego du Charmil in what looks a good race.
16:30 – Lady Reset
LADY RESET enjoyed an excellent campaign on the Flat and over hurdles in 2021/22 for David Pipe, winning five times (twice in handicap hurdles), and can add another victory to her tally here. The six-year-old had been off seven months prior to her second at Newton Abbot last time so can build on that effort and go one better now. Handicap-debutante Choral Work is second choice, while Sorbet could take a step up from her recent run.
