A few to consider, not least VAL DE TRAVERS, who has gone well fresh and has had very few chances in handicaps. He was unlucky not to get off the mark at Musselburgh in October and should have plenty going for him now making his debut for Mick Appleby. The several dangers include Boudica Bay, who has a good record here, and High Security, a solid contender on 2021 form, although there are also cases to be made for Amasova and Q Twenty Boy, both of whom have produced good efforts this year on the AW.

17:40 – Glorious Angel

All juvenile newcomers and the market will doubtless offer further pointers, but GLORIOUS ANGEL ticks plenty of boxes, and is preferred to True Statesman and Sahoud as things stand.

18:15 – Sooghan

Gaius sets the standard but there are some interesting opponents and he could prove vulnerable. Aimeric and Naval College may prove best of the newcomers but the once-raced pair Soulcombe and SOOGHAN could be the two to focus on. Soulcombe should leave his 2yo run well behind him over middle distances, but the selection shaped very well at Windsor 12 days ago when his inexperience was evident in the closing stages. He should be more streetwise here and can get off the mark.

18:45 – Secret Service

Solanna has been firmly on the up on the AW of late and he isn’t opposed lightly now back on turf. Gangway and Fearless Bay have more on their plate than when winning their most recent start and this might be best left to one of several interesting handicap newcomers. Caesar’s Palace and Manshoodah both come into the reckoning but SECRET SERVICE could well be capable of much better and he gets the tentative vote.

19:15 – Cliffcake

Plenty are in with a shout. CLIFFCAKE arrives at the top of his game so this C&D winner is fancied to emerge on top at the chief expense of in-form Majestic Tejaan, who again looks set for minor honours. Leicester-fourth Grangeclare View and the handily-weighted Professional Widow both figure on the shortlist too.

19:45 – Lucky Lucky Lucky

Only eight runners but most of them have something to recommend them. At opposite ends of the weights Sandbeck and Gabriella’s Spirit are both of some interest, while Coup De Force and Pepper Streak could both feature. LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY (nap) should be sharper with a recent run behind him and his Newcastle second in November looks a very solid piece of form. He’s still got more to come too.
