Horse racing tips: our best bets for Lingfield today include a juicy 7/1 punt

The Racing Post like the look of Glasvegas (13:50) in the first

13:50 – Glasvegas

Plenty have possibilities but it might be worth siding with dual course winner GLASVEGAS, who is well treated on his best form last year and was an eyecatching fourth at Wolverhampton last time. Wonder Starelzaam has done well for his new yard since October and he’s feared most, ahead of the last-time-out winners Cap D’Antibes and Desert Land. Course specialist Prince Rock is another key player on his drop back in grade, while others to consider are Mr Fustic and Brunel Charm.

14:25 – Naughty Nadine

Most of these have plenty to prove but NAUGHTY NADINE ran well for long way when third behind an improver at Wolverhampton in January and she looks a big player on this drop back in trip. The main threat could come from Mythical Star, who reached the frame in nurseries in his final two runs last season and still has potential after only six starts.

15:00 – Safety First

If SAFETY FIRST can reproduce the form she showed when second at Wolverhampton last time then she could prove the answer to this low-grade handicap. Vintage Fashion faded into sixth behind the selection at Dunstall Park but that came after a break and she may fare better now, particularly with the stable back among the winners after an unusually quiet spell. The Mad Monk shaped a bit better than the result on his course handicap debut and also makes the shortlist.

15:35 – Swatch

This is a drop in class for SWATCH, who gets the nod ahead of recent C&D debut second Tartarus and Alan King’s Jad Mahal.

16:10 – Clase Azul Ultra

The form of CLASE AZUL ULTRA‘s latest Wolverhampton third received a boost when the winner took a Newcastle handicap on Monday evening and Richard Hannon’s colt can show himself to be on a fair opening mark. Sir Henry Cotton is due to be 2lb higher from Saturday (form of maiden win franked when the second ran well last weekend) so he’s put up as the chief threat. Unexposed pair Sixth Street, a stablemate of the selection, and Ebtsama are others to consider.

16:45 – Cool Spirit

Intervention is more than capable of winning off this mark and he is a key player despite the outside stall. Pablo Del Pueblo has a few ideas of his own but he is another who has the raw ability to make an impact at this level. COOL SPIRIT is at the top of his game at the moment though and he is ideally berthed to make another bold bid.

17:15 – The Defiant

Preference is for THE DEFIANT (nap), who has been resurgent with all-the-way wins on Polytrack in his last two starts and may well be able to strike again here to make it 3-4 since joining Daniel Steele. Lothian has been placed over C&D in two of his last three runs and he’s feared most on his drop back in grade. Blissful Song looks interesting if she can build on her creditable third at Newcastle two weeks ago, while others who could be in the mix are Storm Melody and Porfin.
