Both Bond Boy and Carpe Fortuna have shown enough on the AW lately to suggest they could play a part, though the latter’s wide draw makes things tricky. The choice is LIBRA TIGER who showed enough in both starts at top tracks last autumn to suggests a race of this nature would be within his grasp. Of those at bigger prices Hopeman Harbour and Agapanther are worth a second look.
19:00 Najeeba
Red Flyer has more to give if coping with the return to Tapeta but NAJEEBA was a good winner of a Newcastle novice that worked out well and the handicapper doesn’t look to have been too harsh on her now she tackles this level for the first time. Percy Willis is also in good heart and appeals most of the remainder.
19:30 Plumette
Both Bakersboy and Carey Street look solid frame material while the consistent Diamond Jill is unlikely to be far away. However, preference is for PLUMETTE who has done well since rejoining David Loughnane and her latest success here suggested she would stay this longer trip. It’s A Love Thing didn’t have the race run to suit last time and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him fare better.
20:00 Stormy Ocean (NAP)
A competitive race in which Dayman is respected on handicap debut with the longer trip likely to suit, while Dungar Glory shouldn’t be underestimated on this return having ended last year with a good effort in a Listed contest. However, despite joint-top weight, it’s hard to get away from STORMY OCEAN (nap) who was impressive at Newcastle last time and the form of that race is working out really well. Beltane is another worth keeping an eye on.
20:30 Midgetonamission
A few of these are open to further improvement now switched to a handicap with Swilcan Bridge and Homeric the pick of that group, but despite this being her 20th start it may be worth siding with MIDGETONAMISSION. A winner over C&D, she didn’t get the solid pace she needs back here on Saturday but with a few of these having made the running in the past, this could be run more to suit her.
