Don’t know what a NAPs table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the table. Let’s get to the bets…
Preference is for Clive Cox’s progressive 4yo FERNANDO RAH, who was an emphatic winner of a C&D handicap last month and hit another personal best when runner-up in a conditions event at Kempton 16 days ago. Mondammej looks the main danger, though Caroline Dale is respected back from a break and Copinet could be dangerous if she gets more luck than she did at Chelmsford last time.
Today’s sixth furlong is an unknown but KABOO has shone in AW novices the last twice and still has time to make up into a high-class sprinter. He’s preferred to Adaay In Asia, with Mojomaker also feared. Annaf has stacks to find on the figures but as a well-bred and unbeaten colt it’s not out of the question that he will take a big step forward.
There have been seconds galore from RESET BUTTON and Blazer Two in recent starts and they top the list as the two most likely to give their running. The latter remains a maiden, whereas Reset Button scored in December. Liva and Eltham Palace are the others with significant Flat form recently, while Fred Bear has shown something over hurdles.
Vaxholm has made good progress since the autumn and, despite racing very freely for most of the race, might well have gone close with a clear run inside the final furlong here on Saturday. He will be respected if he makes a quick reappearance but MIDGETONAMISSION clocked a good time for the grade when opening her account at Lingfield recently and might use that success as a springboard. If aided by the first-time cheekpieces, Brown Mouse has a squeak.
