Wolverhampton 17:00 – ISOBEL MOORE

A few of these warrant consideration but the answer might be ISOBEL MOORE, who made a very encouraging handicap debut over 6f at Kempton recently and, given that was her first start since last June, has plenty of scope to build on that performance. Sandie’s Dream did well to finish second at Southwell eight days ago and is feared most but good cases can also be made for Storm Asset and Surrey Territories.

Wolverhampton 17:30 – JOANIE’S GIRL

Splendid Isolation flopped on his recent handicap debut but he was very strong in the betting that day and it will be interesting to see whether his supporters maintain their faith. Major Gatsby has been knocking on the door this winter but one with a bit more potential is JOANIE’S GIRL, who was short of room and lost her position just as she looked poised to challenge on her recent handicap debut. 

Wolverhampton 18:00 – ESSENICAL (nap)

 This can go to ESSENCIAL (nap), who created a pretty good impression when coming from behind to make a winning handicap debut at Lingfield ten days ago and is only 3lb higher here. The other last-time-out winner My Dubawi has been off since October but he should also have more improvement to come and is second choice.

White Willow was placed on her first two starts and probably sets the standard here but CHORUS SONG made a promising debut over 8.6f here four weeks ago and is selected to improve past the Fahey filly. Sous Les Etoiles also showed enough on her debut to suggest she can win a race of this nature.

Vaxholm has made good progress since the autumn and, despite racing very freely for most of the race, might well have gone close with a clear run inside the final furlong here on Saturday. He will be respected if he makes a quick reappearance but MIDGETONAMISSION clocked a good time for the grade when opening her account at Lingfield recently and might use that success as a springboard. If aided by the first-time cheekpieces, Brown Mouse has a squeak

Wolverhampton 19:30 – SANTA FLORENTINA

Lincoln Gamble bids to complete a hat-trick but he shoulders a 5lb penalty for his narrow 7f course win on Saturday and may not be quite as effective over today’s trip. The suggestion is class-dropper SANTA FLORENTINA, who has performed very well on two of her three starts for Phil McEntee this winter.

Wolverhampton 20:00 – SCARBOROUGH CASTLE

Al Gaiya ran on in good style when runner-up at Southwell last time out on her first crack at 1m4f. Her going one better is one of the more likely outcomes today but the way in which SCARBOROUGH CASTLE keeps pulling out more suggests that he can win again. Hooves Like Jagger is preferred to Selecto among the rest.
