12:35 Irish Hill
Irish Hill, a dual winner on the Flat in France, was fortunate to justify support on his hurdling debut and first start for Paul Nicholls at Taunton as he looked held in second when left in front at the last. However, that was still a promising effort and he is entitled to come on for the experience, while the application of headgear can bring about further improvement.

13:10 Cat Tiger
Cat Tiger ran his best race yet in Britain when only narrowly denied at Doncaster last month and he can go one better here. He was beaten on the bob at Doncaster after travelling best, but the front pair pulled 11 lengths clear, so a 4 lb rise in the weights looks fair. He ought to give another good account and gets the vote ahead of Didero Vallis, who returned to form when runner-up at Ludlow last month.
13:45 Unexpected Party
Unexpected Party made a mockery of his opening mark when bolting up on his handicap debut at Wetherby in October and he has run well when runner-up on both outings since. Unexpected Party chased home Gowel Road, who has since boosted the form, at Cheltenham and he looked set to score at Wetherby last time until he hit the brakes on the approach to the last and lost crucial momentum. He was unable to recover from that and had to settle for second, but he shaped like he’s still a well-handicapped horse with more to offer.

14:20 Western Victory
Western Victory is as tough as they come and she has enjoyed a productive campaign in Ireland this season, winning on three occasions at distances from two miles to three miles. She showed she has stamina in abundance when landing a three-mile conditions hurdle at Clonmel last month on her final start for Declan Queally, and that form is up there with the best on offer. She is a likeable, consistent mare and can make a winning start for Emma Lavelle.
14:55 Palmers Hill
Palmers Hill presumably hasn’t been easy to train as he is lightly raced for a nine-year-old, but he has plenty of ability and has shown that on both starts this season. Palmers Hill made a winning return at Wetherby in November and he improved on that when scoring here last month, proving strong at the finish of that 19-furlong handicap. The way he finished last time suggests this longer distance is a positive – he won over this trip over hurdles – and he can complete the hat-trick.

15:35 Shishkin
Only 1 lb splits Shishkin and Energumene on Timeform’s figures but Shishkin shades the vote in a fascinating contest. Shishkin took extremely well to chasing last season, winning all five starts, including the Sporting Life Arkle, and he made an impressive reappearance at Kempton last month, beating Tingle Creek winner Greaneteen by ten lengths in the Desert Orchid Chase. This is the toughest task he has faced but he is an outstanding chaser and looks up to the challenge.
16:05 Complete Unknown
Complete Unknown, a bumper winner in Ireland for Jonathan Fogarty, has not yet won over hurdles but the form he showed when third over course and distance last month is the best on offer. He had also shaped with plenty of promise when chasing home an impressive subsequent winner at Chepstow and this looks like a good opportunity for him to get off the mark for Paul Nicholls.
