Name In Lights can easily be forgiven his defeat in the warm Sandown novice won by Constitution Hill last month and is much better judged on his second there two starts ago. However, the one to beat today is bumper winner DUKE OF ROCKINGHAM, who ran very well in defeat on his hurdling debut and ought to have a lot more to offer.

Given he was badly hampered by two first-flight fallers at Ascot last month, IMPHAL (nap) did remarkably well to finish second behind a very well-handicapped opponent. Off today’s 2lb higher mark, he is selected to collect his fourth win of the season. Lord Of Kerak could have untapped potential over 3m and is feared most. St Barts has a point to prove after a disappointing seasonal debut but may also feature.
14:15 – Oneupmanship
The unexposed 7yo ONEUPMANSHIP was running a promising race when falling two out on last month’s chase debut at Ffos Las, and he can capitalise on the same mark today. Esprit De Somoza won readily over C&D last time when back over fences and could be a big danger, with the in-form Native Robin another who can go well.
14:45 – Whydah Gally
This can go to WHYDAH GALLY, who bumped into an improver when a clear second off today’s mark at Lingfield in November and gets another chance off the same mark here. Colin Tizzards’s 6yo remains lightly raced and should be fine over today’s shorter trip. Chasing hasn’t gone to plan for Henry Gondoff this season but he switches back to hurdling on a tempting mark. Welsh Saint has also become well handicapped and is next on the list.

15:15 – Velasco
A first win looks imminent for the lightly raced 6yo VELASCO, who has run well to be second on two of his three chase starts. Pennyforapound could be a big threat, however, as he was third behind the selection at Taunton last time and is now 4lb better off. Poppa Poutine is yet to fire over fences but that could change today now back down in trip and in grade.
15:50 – Destinee Royale
All seemed to be going very well for DESTINEE ROYALE on her reappearance at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day until she stumbled and fell a couple of strides after jumping five out, and this progressive mare can make amends today. The reapplied blinkers could be just what Captain Chaos needs and this well-handicapped 11yo is feared most, ahead of Favori De Sivola then Colorado Doc.

Tom Lacey operates at a healthy 18% strike-rate in bumpers in the last five seasons and 72,000euros purchase GETAWAY TOM earns the vote today. The Paul Nicholls-trained Twin Power is next on the list, ahead of the Flat-bred filly Rosy Redrum.
