16:00 – Obtain

The last Dundalk meeting of 2021 and we’ve a really competitive card to aim at. Ger Lyons looks to have made a shrewd move by legging his 10lb claimer up on Obtain in the opener. She’ll effectively be getting more than 15lbs off chief market rival Sacred Territory despite their only being 2lb between them in the ratings. That could be the difference.

16:30 – Together Aclaim (NAP)

A 7f two-year-old maiden sees my NAP of the night running in the shape of Together Aclaim for trainer Gavin Cromwell. I thought he’d win a couple of weeks ago but was beaten by Doitforandrew. However, the winner has since followed up so puts that run in a completely different light now and he can make amends.

17:00 – Acquiescent

A tricky 7f handicap is up next where Gordon Elliott’s Business has the services of leading 5lb claimer Sam Ewing. He was a good winner a week ago but has a wide draw to contend with now so that just points me towards Acquiescent, ridden by Colin Keane. He stayed on strongly last time and this former course distance could be the one to beat.

17:30 – Prisoner’s Dilemma

Prisoner’s Dilemma won here almost a year to the day and showed a return to form last month when keeping on well to be fourth to Punk Poet. Market rivals Notforalongtime, Crystal Dawn, and London Palladium all have their chances but I just favour Johnny Levins’ runner.

18:00 – San Andreas

This is probably the quality race of the night and San Andreas looks the most likely winner to me for Joseph O’Brien. He’s solid turf form and was just beaten at Leopardstown on Champions weekend but small fields at Dundalk suit him very well.

18:30 – Sunwalk

Andy Slattery’s Sunwalk was a little too keen on his last run here over 10f and drops back to one mile tonight. Jake Coen takes off a valuable 7lb and that can make the difference. Market rival Giuliana has been a little disappointing recently but has her chance on this surface.

19:00 – Raamez

Freescape is chasing the hat-trick at this venue for trainer David Marnane but I’ll take him on with last week’s easy winner Raamez for Gordon Elliott and Chris Hayes. He went up 7lb for that victory but given his French form he’s quite unexposed on the Flat in Ireland. He looked very comfortable on the surface and is the one to beat for me.

19:30 – Clueless Hill

The last race of 2021 and it’s not an easy race to find the winner in. I’ll go with Clueless Hill who was a revelation in blinkers last time when winning at this track. With a good draw in stall four, he can keep up the good wok for Luke Comer and Chris Hayes.
