12:30 I’m The Diva

There is little worthwhile form to go on here, so a chance is taken on I’M THE DIVA, who represents an in-form yard, and could easily be up to the task on debut in receipt of weight all round. Her dam was a winner over hurdles in France, and she starts out in a very modest contest. Romeo’s Bond is a half-brother to Stimulating Song, a useful hurdler for the same connections, so he could easily up his game switched to this code.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

13:00 Oscars Moonshine

This is another tough race to call as all four are making their chasing debuts, and promise to improve for the switch to fences, too. The one who makes the most appeal, though, is the Paul Nicholls-trained OSCARS MOONSHINE, who was progressive over hurdles last season (completed a hat-trick) and had a pipe-opener at Newton Abbot last month. He looks an interesting recruit to the chasing ranks, but so does Gosheven, and dual point winner Beatthebullet.

13:30 Gazette Bourgeoise

GAZETTE BOURGEOISE and So Said I were a long way clear of the rest when occupying the first two positions at Stratford last month and look the pair to focus on. That was a much improved display from the former, who was consistent not progressive last season, but she won with a fair bit in hand, and could well kick on further now she has got her head in front. Swincombe Fleat another to consider upped markedly in trip now hurdling.

14:00 White Moon

WHITE MOON hasn’t quite reached the heights he once promised to, but there is no doubt he has plenty of ability, and fresh may be the best time to catch him. He didn’t threaten the judge in three starts last season, but the yard were under a cloud for much of it, and the handicapper has played his part by lowering his mark. White Moon is now 14 lb lower than when making his seasonal reappearance last year and, with the Tizzard team in better health now, he makes a fair bit of appeal from a handicapping perspective. Connard probably would have made a winning handicap debut at Kelso but for a late mistake and is respected on return.

14:30 Black Kalanisi

BLACK KALANISI’s last win over fences came from a 1 lb higher mark and he shaped as though retaining all of his ability on his debut for this yard at Stratford three weeks ago. He was beaten eight lengths in second, but his cause wasn’t helped by a couple of mistakes at his fences, and he did meet some trouble jumping the last. He looks the type that his new yard will do well with and he is handicapped to strike. Midnight Midge would have gone close to making a winning return at Wincanton but for a final-fence blunder and he can pose the biggest threat.

15:00 Mi Laddo

The Milton Harris yard is absolutely flying at present and MI LADDO is fancied to follow up his win at Taunton last time. He was well backed on that occasion and duly showed improved form, showing a nice turn of foot to settle matters on the run-in. A subsequent 6 lb rise in the weights looks fair enough and that win may have boosted his confidence. Hope You Do appeals as one who should have more to come in handicaps so he’s fancied to give the selection most to think about.

15:30 In Rem

IN REM didn’t show much for Gary Moore, but he made an impressive start for this yard when opening his account on handicap debut at Ffos Las last month, forging clear in the closing stages. He seemingly hasn’t been the easiest to train, but he remains totally unexposed and will take the beating again if turning up in the same form. Sehayli was thriving when last seen a year ago and will be a danger if picking up where he left off.
