12:40 – My Mate Mozzie
My Mate Mozzie has won a point a bumper and a maiden hurdle all by wide margins and looks like he is well up to at least Group 3 level. Chemical Energy and Boothen Boy give Gordon Elliott a strong hand but I want to be with My Mate Mozzie until we see what the ceiling of his ability is. He hammered Barbados on his hurdles debut at Punchestown (106 on the flat) so that’s enough for me.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
13:10 – Flooring Porter
Sire Du Berlais won this last year but Flooring Porter beat him twice last season and might be able to make that three, even with the drop in trip a slight concern. He never went a yard at Punchestown but bolted up here in a handicap last December and if anywhere near his best, he should be tough to beat.
14:55 – Samcro
This one is really Samcro v Notebook. Notebook concedes 3lbs to Samcro and was really good on his reappearance last season before his form tailed off. Samcro wears blinkers here for the first time and it is worth chancing him back at 2m again despite being disappointing in the main for the last two seasons. He did win in Killarney over 2m4f when beating Cialos Emery which is solid.
