16:40 Equitation
It’s over two years since his last win but this is a significant drop in grade for EQUITATION, who has plied his trade in Class 3 handicaps this season. Good Earth will be a threat if he bounces back quickly from last week’s below-par run. Nurse Florence would meet most of these on better terms in a handicap but her consistency in recent months is a big selling point.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
17:15 Kendred Fire
Most of these have something to prove on one count or another. Olympic Eagle needs improvement now handicapping but that’s quite possible, while Ideal Guest and Helvetique can also feature prominently. It may be worth taking a chance on northern raider KENDRED FIRE though, with his latest Newcastle fourth probably worth upgrading.
17:45 Substantial
Great Hunter won decisively at Newcastle 19 days ago and he is respected back at 7f despite a 7lb penalty. It wasn’t a strong race he won there though and both State Secretary and SUBSTANTIAL are likely to provide him with sterner resistance today. William Haggas’s colt was a bit fresh after a year off on his return but he could find the requisite improvement with that outing under his belt.

18:15 Lone Fighter
Under The Twilight won well at Chelmsford 13 days ago and she should make a bold bid to defy her penalty. Bibulous and Labaaqa are interesting newcomers but LONE FIGHTER could be the answer. He fluffed his lines on his only 2yo run but he was very green and there could be much more to come from him this year.
18:45 Sharla (NAP)
The hat-trick seeking Proclaimer is a solid candidate but this is quite competitive and there are viable alternatives. Epic Express and Mabo are in form and can cope with the higher grade but SHARLA (nap) may well be the answer. She’s building up a good record at this track and her latest Sandown effort is easy enough to forgive.
19:15 Candleford
Each of the Godolphin-owned runners has something to recommend them, with perhaps Marshall Plan the pick back in these calmer waters. CANDLEFORD has run well in hot handicaps in both starts since his breakthrough novice win, however, and he can surely win races off this mark.
19:45 A Legacy
Hashtagmetoo and Sundayinmay bring solid handicap form into the race and both should go well. The unexposed Hang Up and A LEGACY could progress past them though and the latter gets the tentative verdict.
20:15 Author’s Dream
Super Superjack is running well but has questions to answer on the AW, while last year’s winner Dance To Paris hardly comes back on the crest of a wave. Blazon should go well but preference is for AUTHOR’S DREAM, a multiple AW winner who ran a solid race at York last time in stronger company.
