Nothing in this field stands out, but DOITFORTHEVILLAGE is at least accustomed to keeping better company. He gets the nod ahead of the consistent Wagner and Reve, who is risky but capable.

Soft ground would be a grey area, but GALATA BRIDGE is otherwise of strong interest, given how good he was on the Flat. Samba Dancer may prove the most troublesome, although Ray’s The One, Blueberg and Ascot Day all need respecting.

Oceanline and TOO FRIENDLY were of similar ability on the Flat, but the selection was that bit quicker, having done his winning at 1m 2f. That superior speed should count around here and the Gredleys, associated with so many smart Flat horses, have done well with their small but select team of jumpers.

Richie Valentine had LOST IN MONTMARTRE (NAP) back in third at Bangor last week, but the selection can gain her revenge on the revised terms and softer ground.

Aucunrisque boasts the best figures on her second here earlier this year. But, a chance is taken on CALL ME TARA, who found 1m 4f too sharp a test when made favourite for her debut in a junior bumper at Newbury. Larusso shouldn’t be far away.
