There’s a good chance this will take less winning than the C&D maiden in which GOLDEN WAR finished second last time, and he can get off the mark on his first run since being gelded. Rich King was a close third at Thirsk last time and is second choice, ahead of Sydney Street, although the Mark Johnston-trained Cavendish could be a big improver on this second start.

In what looks quite an interesting race, La Rav and Arranmore who were first and second here last month, are obvious contenders, but this slower ground will suit fourth-placed UGO GREGORY who is taken to turn the tables with his old rivals.

Although he races mainly over 6f or more these days BRANDO has an outstanding chance at these weights and is taken to beat Danzeno and Tarboosh.

The Karl Burke-trained GUILDED takes a big drop back in grade having been a close sixth in a French Group 3 last time out, and will be tough to beat if at her best. Dreams Of Thunder is the clear next best on form but Coffee Mehmas may be a value forecast option, as her pedigree provides optimism she’ll be able to leave her May debut well behind.
16:10 Lincoln Gamble
The Richard Fahey-trained LINCOLN GAMBLE was a good second when upped to 1m at stiff Carlisle last time out and can return to winning ways this afternoon. Captain Corelli also arrives in fine form and is a standout danger, although the selection’s stablemate Brazen Prince could also be a threat.
16:45 Star Shakeera
Despite a moderate effort last time STAR SHAKEERA is selected to get off the mark on her second attempt at 1m2f. Crestwood and Possible Ambition are two others with a chance.
17:15 Buford (NAP)
The lightly raced BUFORD (nap) looked a 3yo to follow when making a winning handicap and seasonal debut at Doncaster last month, and he failed to settle off a slow pace when beaten at Carlisle just three days later. He can get back on track with a win today. Karen Tutty has done extremely well this year with stable-switcher Strawman, and Her Way is an interesting contender on her first run since being bought out of Roger Charlton’s yard. Highlight Reel was second over C&D last time and could be best of the older horses.
