16:35 – Holbache

Mutasallem still has time to do better and a gelding operation could prompt improvement. Campachoochoo and the unexposed Ruby Cottage enter calculations but with rain forecast this may be best left to HOLBACHE. He’s well handicapped on his 2yo form and there were more encouraging signs from him at Brighton last time.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

17:05 – Shalaa Asker

The ground could prove crucial here with several of the more interesting candidates ideally suited by quick ground. Last week’s course winner Newyorkstateofmind fits that category, along with Second Collection, and this may be best left to Buy Me Back and SHALAA ASKER. The selection has races in him off this mark and he may be able to reverse last week’s placings with Newyorkstateofmind over this shorter trip.

17:35 – Her Way

Tregony has plenty of scope to progress from last month’s breakthrough win at Nottingham but hat-trick seeker HER WAY (nap) was a very convincing C&D winner a week ago and ought to be very hard to beat under her penalty. Handicap debutant Jack Bean didn’t achieve much as a 2yo but is likely to be much more productive this year.

18:05 – Oriental Beauty

General Lee was ahead of ORIENTAL BEAUTY when second at Chepstow last month but Mick Channon’s filly put in a good front-running shift there and, with this just her third run, she is selected to improve past her old rival here. Roscioli is the other main contender on form but it’s fair to say he has become a little disappointing.

18:35 – French Conquest

It’s quite easy to make good cases for almost all the runners but perhaps the one with most potential is FRENCH CONQUEST, who was too headstrong to be seen to best effect in his maiden/novice races and, despite settling better, still didn’t look the finished article when a respectable fifth on his handicap debut. He ought to progress as he collects more experience. Roman Mist is feared most, ahead of Arcadian Nights.

19:05 – Super Superjack

Most are very hard to fancy but SUPER SUPERJACK has clicked over 11.6f here on his last two starts, in the style of one who would get further, and Critique also ran well over that trip on his latest outing, finishing strongly. Soft or heavy ground would admittedly pose a question for both of them and perhaps boost the chances of Hammy End and Alioski.

19:35 – Wild Flower

Andre Amar won with plenty to spare over C&D last week and a reproduction of that performance would probably suffice despite the 5lb penalty. He can blow the start though and perhaps wouldn’t be one to be taking short odds about. The prospect of rain tempers enthusiasm in Twelve Diamonds and Glamorous Force but it shouldn’t hinder Gherkin or WILD FLOWER, and the latter can confirm the promise of last month’s stable debut.
